Do the "Show More" links automatically appear in long toots, or is there some switch you enable like a CW? Sometimes I want to write a lot but don't want to take up a lot of space for people who aren't interested in the topic. #MastodonQuestions

Potentially a dumb question, especially given how long I've been on Mastodon, and have been promoting it to people. How do I see a person's own toots? Not their boosts, replies to others, etc. Just the ones they craft with their own fingers ( if they're posting a website using a toot that's fine too). But ones they themselves toot. I thought I knew, but now that I search a friend's for his snow report, I couldn't separate all those things out. 😞

Is there a way to post a URL to my *profile* page on mastodon without an @ symbol in the link? Many systems will reject links with that character or try to convert it to an email.

ANSWER: use "users" in the URL eg:

I have a mastodon question. Sometimes when I click through to see someone's post or profile on their own server (rather than the limited version my server may have), I get a warning from my safe browsing app that that other server looks like a risky site. It doesn't happen all the time, and I don't know what the common factor is.

A spammer should NOT be able to spam their way to the top. Could there be a check to see if posts are from suspended accounts added?

Is there a way to have ActivityPub post only the first 200 characters of a Wordpress post to Mastodon?

Just the title alone wouldn't be enough for me to click on a link. And the full 4,000 word post would make me instantly block an account.

I love Masto, but as one of the many that have astigmatism, it would be nice to change the colour scheme? I assume this is an instance by instance thing, but what does pawb.fun have in the way of changing colour away from the dark tones and light text?

Targetted mostly locally, but it appears the app is v4.2.0+glitch here.

how can I prioritize some of the people I follow? posts I like aren't shown to me cause there are too many from one person/tag that drown everything else out.

ideally I'd like to set rates on each person/tag I follow (eg no more than 3 an hour) and set priorities.

@jupiter_rowland Also, the bigger issue for me is that I have #mastodonquestions but there's not really a great, obvious source out there for #mastodonsupport from a real human.

Specifically, I *want* longer posts, for longer, more research-heavy articles. Not fond of threaded toots.

I think this would also be great for many other uses, such as #journalism, which could help attract more to #mastodon.

If you have any thoughts on various #longpost solutions for Mastodon users, I'd welcome them.
