Just finished my @MetaROR journey — two rounds of #OpenPeerReview, valuable feedback, a stronger paper, and finally a journal submission:

Open review takes time, but it’s worth every week for the transparency and trust it brings. As Einstein might say: insanity is submitting to the same publishing oligopolies and expecting the system to change on its own.

Very excited about the partnership between #STI-ENID2025 and
#MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review), the open peer review platform set up by @aimos and @RoRInstitute! https://www.stienid2025.org/about-6
Looking forward to working together with @gemmaderrick and Neil Jacobs at University of Bristol.

In this piece @stephenpinfield, Kathy Zeiler and I make the case for the publish-review-curate model, the model we use in the #MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review) platform launched earlier this week.
For more details about MetaROR's publish-review-curate model, see https://metaror.org/publish-review-curate/.

The #MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review) platform has been launched https://metaror.org/.
How does it work? More information about the MetaROR approach, including the publish-review-curate model used by the platform, is available at https://metaror.org/about-metaror/.
We also created a flowchart summarizing the MetaROR approach.
Right now at the #MetaROR launch at the @aimos conference, Ginny Barbour, Editor-in-Chief of the Medical Journal of Australia, strongly criticizes #WebOfScience for discontinuing full indexing of @eLife.
Today at 23h CET the #MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review) platform will be launched https://researchonresearch.org/metaror-launch/.
The launch takes place at the @aimos conference in Canberra, with the possibility of online attendance https://agbarnett.github.io/aimos.conference.2024/.
I just registered for online attendance of @aimos conference that will take place coming week https://agbarnett.github.io/aimos.conference.2024/. Online participation is free of charge.
Among other things, I will attend the conference to join the launch of the #MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review) platform, a joint initiative by @RoRInstitute and AIMOS. Very much looking forward to the reflections offered by @siminevazire, @ginnybarbour and Sujatha Raman!
See https://researchonresearch.org/metaror-launch/ for more info about #MetaROR launch.
Later this month #MetaROR will publish the first reviews and editorial assessments.
Would you be interested to be among the first authors submitting their work to MetaROR? Feel free to reach out to me.
Let's work together to improve our publishing and peer review practices in the field of metaresearch!
Using the publish-review-curate (#PRC) model, #MetaROR aims to make publishing and peer review faster, more efficient and more rewarding. See https://asapbio.org/understanding-the-publish-review-curate-prc-model-of-scholarly-communication for more information about the PRC model @ASAPbio.
Like @eLife, MetaROR doesn't make binary accept/reject decisions. Instead, MetaROR provides editorial assessments of articles aimed at helping authors to improve their work and helping readers to develop a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of an article.
Excited to share that later this month @RoRInstitute and @aimos will launch the new #MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review) platform, offering open peer review of articles in the field of metaresearch.
Together with Kathryn Zeiler, I will serve as Editor-in-Chief of the platform. Other collaborators include @aidybarnett, @alexh, @andrebrasil, @jameswilsdon, @jasonchin, @stephenpinfield, among others.
See https://researchonresearch.org/metaror-launch/ for information about our launch events on November 21 and 26.
Pushing for a paradigm shift in Open Access: cOAlition S, MetaROR and the publish-review-curate approach https://council.science/current/blog/open-science-round-up-november-2023/
In this piece @cwts and @RoRInstitute colleague @andrebrasil offers his reflections on ongoing developments toward open scholarly publishing, focusing on the @cOAlitionS_OA #ResponsiblePublishing proposal and the #MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review) initiative developed by @aimos and @RoRInstitute.
Excellent talk by @cwts colleague @andrebrasil about the #MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review) platform that is currently being set up by @RoRInstitute and @aimos https://youtu.be/n1RkNLNgYuE?si=6tmE4m4IXvBMj1Kr.
Thanks to DST - Centre for Policy Research, IISc, Bangalore for organizing this webinar in #OAWeek.
By the way, note the close alignment between the #MetaROR philosophy and the 'Towards Responsible Publishing' proposal presented earlier this week by @cOAlitionS_OA https://www.coalition-s.org/blog/introducing-the-towards-responsible-publishing-proposal-from-coalition-s/.
Kitchen Essentials: Interview with Adam Hyde of Coko https://scholarlykitchen.sspnet.org/2023/11/01/kitchen-essentials-an-interview-with-adam-hyde-of-coko/
"Coko develops open source software to power scholarly publishing ... our flagship platform is Kotahi, an end-to-end system for journals, preprint review and more. Kotahi enables new ways of open, collaborative publishing."
Coko is doing crucial work by developing new open infrastructures for scholarly communication. Happy to be working with @esetera to set up infrastructure for #MetaROR (MetaResearch Open Review).
