Could the button sensing areas be enlarged? 🙃 I'm forever missing the star & opening posts & threads. Or often opening the post below or the account profile of its author when I'm trying to interact with the post above.

Anybody else? Or just my fat fingers?

I’m having a lot of trouble posting pictures on Mastodon. I’m using the Metatext app, 1.7.1 (2).

It allows me to find pictures both in my pictures folder and files folder on my iPhone 11, but when I select then try to upload, I get:

“The operation couldn’t be completed. (ServiceLayer.- MediaProcessingError error 0.)

OK”

Once in a while it works, but usually it fails and I can’t fathom a reason for why it’s failing.

Feditext beta users: version 1.7.2 (build 142) fixes the autocomplete bug in the post composer on iOS 18+ (iOS 15–17 are not affected).

it also switches to an account-specific search API method for looking up accounts based on username and display name only. for Mastodon users, this may result in slightly faster autocomplete lookups and fewer false positives. GTS users should not see a difference. please report any issues with other servers.

I kept using #Metatext for like 2 years since the app is discontinued.
Now the quotes being added to Mastodon, I switched to… let me check… #IceCubes!

The UX is really good so far.

Also, any one else have problems with #Metatext app and sharing articles from a browser or app? Tried a bunch recently with no luck and ultimately made the switch back to #mastadon app and now it's working. Maybe user error?

@nimi Nein, dazu ist uns nichts bekannt. Evtl. mal das Entwicklerteam anschreiben? Als kostenlose Alternative ist auch @IceCubesApp zu empfehlen. Oder #Feditext, ein Fork von #Metatext, als #TestFlight:

Feditext beta users: version 1.7.2 (build 140) fixes a JSON decoding issue with Mastodon 4.4 / 4.5 instances that caused error messages when quoted posts are viewed or on a timeline.

this doesn't change how Feditext displays quotes; as with other instance types that already support quote posts, Mastodon quoted posts will be displayed as special links. tapping them will display the whole post. full quote post support is pending.

Feditext beta users: version 1.7.2 (build 139) adds persistent display filters for home/local/federated timelines (upper right corner button). when you hide boosts or replies, they will now stay hidden when you navigate to other timelines or relaunch the app. it also fixes the accessibility label for the filter button.

All these years and I still like the metatext user interface.

I got to use feditext at least a year ago and it was good enough to be used out of TestFlight. I hope they get to release it soon.

Anyone else had issues with Metatext on iOS crashing or otherwise misbehaving, especially when writing multi-post toots? It ate one of mine yesterday that I had spent a long time on and now I am leery of writing anything that’s too long.

Does anyone know an #Accessible #app for #fedi that supports go to social and works on iPhone? Mona excluded. Can't afford and is too complicated for me. #Feditext and #MetaText have no way to hide cws with voiceover rotor actions, so that's a dealbreaker. Looking for something, as #Toot! is not updated, and is eating up too much battery. Thank you in advance.

Feditext beta users: version 1.7.2 build 137, now on TestFlight, fixes the crash on iPads running iPadOS 18 that made most iPad Feditext users, well, unable to use Feditext.

Revisiting Toot! as an alternative to #Metatext, and so far it seems like it'll work OK. I can't remember now why I switched, but at least this reads the toots correctly.
