Tandem really needs to fix their Mobi.

So far, I'm not aware of a Mobi insulin pump lasting a year. My first one was replaced after 6 months. My current one is 6 months old, though so far no problems.

They all seem to have a common failure mode: Piston drive starts failing and can no longer adequately deliver insulin, especially during a bolus.

I'm aware of several cases of this.

This is a $10,000 device.

Has anyone taken a Tandem Mobi apart?

I'm curious if the gear train from the motor to the piston is plastic.

This seems to be a common failure point of this insulin pump. Issues start with false occlusions, and you start hearing chirping as it tries to dispense, which I've dubbed "sad Mobi noises".

I'm on my second pump because of this. I know someone either on their second pump with symptoms, or has received their third already. I've seen other reports of this.
