A truly tiny hummingbird approaches a (by comparison) enormous hummingbird feeder shiny with fresh nectar. The hummingbird is hovering just above the flower shaped feeder spout. Behind is the blurred shape of a larger aggressive hummingbird already flaring their tail. The little guy is an immature male Purple-throated Woodstar, the big bully is the highly successful & widespread species, Rufous-tailed Hummingbird. La FInca Aracauna, CO. Nov 2025. (For those who have questions--I know the little guy is a male because in some of my images I can see the beginnings of the purple throat starting to grow in as a dark smudge in the center, you probably can't see it in this photo, I only see it cuz I know it's there.)
