🧠✨ Happy belated National Trivia Day!

We were a little too excited celebrating World Braille Day — but trivia and learning never go out of style. Here’s a fun fact to kick things off:

Braille is based on a six-dot cell, creating 64 possible combinations used for reading, math, music, and technology.

Do you have a favorite Braille fact or accessibility-related trivia? Share it with us!

A playful educational graphic celebrating National Trivia Day with a focus on Braille. At the top is the Pennsylvania Council of the Blind logo, showing the outline of Pennsylvania with “PCB” and braille dots beneath. The background is a soft blue with a subtle Braille dot pattern. In the center is a large question mark formed from raised dots alongside the word “Braille” spelled in braille. Text reads “National Trivia Day” and “Braille Fun Facts!” At the bottom, text says “Pennsylvania Council of the Blind.” The design is fun, educational, and high contrast.

Fun fact! Today is #NationalTriviaDay, and my bit of trivia to you is that it is also #NationalSpaghettiDay. It is also the anniversary of the release of the eponymous album by The Doors, and of course who could forget that it's also the anniversary of the 871 Battle of Reading where Æthelred of Wessex and his brother Alfred were defeated by the Danish. Not to be confused with Æthelred 2, who didn't rule for another century, and became known as Æthelred The Unready - a pun on his name in Old English, but also because some historians argue he was a bit shit. Æthelred 2 ultimately lost the throne to Cnut, famed for being the King who sat in the sea and commanded the waves to stay out of reach. As the story goes...

When he was at the height of his ascendancy, he ordered his chair to be placed on the sea-shore as the tide was coming in. Then he said to the rising tide, "You are subject to me, as the land on which I am sitting is mine, and no one has resisted my overlordship with impunity. I command you, therefore, not to rise on to my land, nor to presume to wet the clothing or limbs of your master." But the sea came up as usual, and disrespectfully drenched the king's feet and shins. So jumping back, the king cried, "Let all the world know that the power of kings is empty and worthless, and there is no king worthy of the name save Him by whose will heaven, earth and the sea obey eternal laws."

But that was before the Internet and there wasn't much to do back then.

Have a great day!
