When the AP uses "impact" as a verb you know something's up.
Aflac duck in the news.
"Cyberattacks against companies have been rampant for years, but a string of attacks on retail companies have raised awareness of the issue because the breaches can impact customers."

I •think• there's a grammatical error in that headline: it should be "…but died before he did."
I might be wrong, though, and the rules keep changing anyway.
Went to interview Santa for a little community story. For the interview, he actually patted his chair and had me sit with him like one of the kids. So I included that detail in the story.

My students' reactions to a poster which sums up their own thoughts on #ungrading (which they had to think about in a previous session) in my class #NewsWriting at @Journalismus_PR. Isn't the cat pawsome? 🐈⬛😻😸 Whoop, whoop for my students #jpr24 #cats #teaching #HigherEducation #Online
Does everyone know "the 5W's and sometimes How"?
This is a simple checklist used in #journalism, and refers to six questions every #news article should answer, and the first 5 should be answered in the lede:

I very much like how the CBS Evening News has stopped opening the show by teasing every single story in the broadcast. I never understood that. And I'm a former news producer who had to write show-opening "headlines," so I get the concept. But I always thought it was majorly overboard to have two minutes of headlines before getting to the top story.

A Freudian typo? Writing "flopped classroom method" instead of "flipped classroom method" in the students' syllabus for #jpr23
I hope not but let's see
I should plug, on that note, some nice work over the last 48 hours by Dani Prokop at Source New Mexico (sourcenm.com) as she watches the scene at a border crossing near #ElPaso. Effectively acting as a correspondent observing an unpredictable humanitarian situation.
Reading this collection of #Hemingway’s #journalism and today, specifically, dispatches for the Toronto Daily Star from Asia Minor during the Greco-Turkish population “exchange” (also known as a civil ethnic-religious cleansing) in 1922-23.
I have a real taste for these vivid portrayals of scenes like this, and wish I saw that kind of work produced today. A good #correspondent is such a feather in a newspaper’s/website’s cap.
How #politicians sometimes use the passive voice to evade #accountability, and why #journalists should consider using the active voice when #reporting.
