🔎 ABOUT THIS PROJECT
We created this Rewilding Reserve to safeguard a special pocket of wilderness along a vital stretch of the Mira's ecological corridor. Situated where the Torgal stream meets the Mira estuary, our 126 hectares of land contain a diversity of habitats from oak and riparian forests, grasslands and bushland to saltmarshes. But this land is more than just protected space, it's a model for regeneration. At the heart of the reserve, we're creating a rewilding plant centre and housing for long-term volunteers — a vibrant hub where volunteers come together to restore native ecosystems, deepen their connection with nature, and to be part of something bigger. Beyond our own impact, we wish to inspire and support local landowners by demonstrating sustainable, ecologically responsible ways of managing and producing from the land.
