Net zero cannot be the goal. CO2 is an absolute sum: a too-slowly degrading contaminant (from the current planetary biota's point of view).
Growing your CO2 output while growing your green energy, to where the math looks pretty is not the goal: stopping the CO2 level's rise and ideally reversing it, is the goal.
