#ClimateEmergency #WorstCaseScenario #LosingYourParasol

This one is NOT good for your mental health, especially of you’re allergic to bad [and doom] news.
But if you want to know how what is going to happen, you need to make scenarios. Predictive scenarios from before last year tend to be too positive. They tend to be based on averages. On parts of the proposed measures having the desired effect, or even being implemented.
Learning lessons of how politicians and BigMoney have been doing lately, I’m not very hopeful, even scared.
So maybe it’s better to base your expectancies on a Worst Case Scenario.

#ClimateEmergency #EU #Petition #NuNuclear

I’m AGAINST nuclear power. It’s a too easy escape for the rich to spend their money on my dime. Profiting of the build and later extortioning captivated customers for even more.
* It far too expensive
* It takes way too long
* There are better and cheaper solutions, like real insulation, solar and wind, smaller scale solutions.
Nuclear is just a way for the rich and powerful to make more money and to stay in power.

”Stop financing nuclear problems and start implementing climate solutions”
by Change.org

change.org/p/stop-financing-nu?

Quote by C.o:
The Issue
The disasters in Chernobyl and Fukushima prove that nuclear power is unpredictable. Even modern reactors can spiral out of control – with devastating consequences for people and the environment. Entire regions have been rendered uninhabitable in the long term, and thousands of people are still suffering from the long-term health effects.
Nuclear power remains a high-risk technology. Technical malfunctions, human error or deliberate attacks – especially in times of war – can lead to serious accidents involving the massive release of radioactive substances. This also applies to so-called ‘advanced’ reactor types such as small modular reactors (SMRs). Any nuclear power generation is vulnerable to current climate change, be it lack of cooling water or risk of inundation. In addition, every operation leaves behind highly toxic nuclear waste that must be safely isolated from the biosphere for tens of thousands of years – an impossible task and a immoral burden on future generations.
Last but not least, civilian and military nuclear industry are inseparably interwoven: SMR for navy vessel propulsion, the civilian nuclear chain delivering nuclear explosives for atomic bombs production, depleted uranium in „conventional“ weapons etc..
Nevertheless, nuclear power is marketed as ‘green’ and ‘climate-friendly’. But the facts refute this:

Nuclear power is too expensive: it is several times more expensive than wind and solar power, and the costs keep rising.
Nuclear power depends on subsidies: without massive government aid and risk guarantees, no new nuclear power plant would be build. Cost explosions and years of delays are the rule – not the exception.
Nuclear power is too slow for the climate crisis: building new reactors often takes 20 years or more, 20 years of extended CO2 emissions. Solar and wind power plants, on the other hand, are ready for use in two to five years and deliver clean electricity immediately.
Private investors have recognised the signs of the times: the majority of them are focusing on renewable energies, which have long been competitive and are growing rapidly. Every euro that goes into nuclear power is money that is not available for the urgently needed expansion of wind, solar and storage technologies.

That is why we are calling for no funding for nuclear power! The European Union must not promote nuclear power, especially the construction of new nuclear power plants. There must be no funding for nuclear energy in the EU's multi-annual financial framework.
Instead of pouring billions into a risky, expensive and outdated technology, we need a consistent energy transition: 100% renewable, decentralised and democratic. This is the only way to prevent new disasters like Chernobyl or Fukushima – and to effectively protect the climate.“

Knowing the channel you will be bombarded with figures and comparisons, useful for some, but why wait ? It’s not like the transition can wait. Or that we can afford to wait ?If you have the opportunity do it yesterday.
Besides that, wait for what. For Perovskite panels to come in the market ? Or wait for them to be sold at scale and become cheaper ? Or for legislation for every new-built building to be panelled by them ? [which would drive up the price initially]
If you do have the opportunity do it YESTERDAY.

Should You Wait for the Next Solar Breakthrough? Perovskite solar cells could hit 35% efficiency and cost half as much as silicon, but they're still years away from your roof. Meanwhile, silicon panels just lost their 30% federal tax credit in the US, making them suddenly more expensive. So here's the $20,000 question: what’s the better path and value? Should you wait for the next solar breakthrough technology to finally arrive, or install silicon solar panels now? Which one gives you a better bang for your buck?“

Moreover, we're left with waste that remains radioactive for tens of thousands of years. But what if there was a new type of reactor that was much safer, couldn't explode, and ran on... salt? Changing weather ? Some blame el niӣo, but that phenomenon has been around for a while. So what is changing ?
Could it be that it’s caused [mostly] not in the East but in the WEST. Weather [and hurricanes] in Florida is determined for a large part by the Atlantic ocean. An ocean that keeps getting warmer. Not by nature [as in scapegoat] but by MAN MADE interference with that nature.
I can’t stand the perplexity on those ‘once-in-a-hundred-year’ events. How did they get to a ‘once-in-five year’ event to a ‘every-other-year’ event.
And Florida needs to learn to swim [or ski]

🔎 ABOUT THIS PROJECT
We created this Rewilding Reserve to safeguard a special pocket of wilderness along a vital stretch of the Mira's ecological corridor. Situated where the Torgal stream meets the Mira estuary, our 126 hectares of land contain a diversity of habitats from oak and riparian forests, grasslands and bushland to saltmarshes. But this land is more than just protected space, it's a model for regeneration. At the heart of the reserve, we're creating a rewilding plant centre and housing for long-term volunteers — a vibrant hub where volunteers come together to restore native ecosystems, deepen their connection with nature, and to be part of something bigger. Beyond our own impact, we wish to inspire and support local landowners by demonstrating sustainable, ecologically responsible ways of managing and producing from the land.
