“There is no crisis on the border that is not the direct result of the crisis of the border”
- Charles Johnson

#openborders #freemigration #anachism #abolishICE

There is no crisis on the border that is not the direct result of the crisis of the border, no humanitarian disaster that would not be instantly and forever wiped away just by letting people cross peacefully where they want to cross, and letting them stay anywhere that they can find a place or a person wiling to have them. All you need to do is stand down, let these people cross freely and openy where they choose and leave them alone.

2️⃣0️⃣ The Future We Could Choose

Imagine a world where borders don’t trap potential—they guide it.
Where people move freely to build, to belong, to enrich and be enriched.

Where freedom scales with humanity.
Where growth is shared.
Where opportunity flows across every border.

That world isn’t impossible.
It’s open.

1️⃣9️⃣ The Moral Vision

Open borders isn’t utopia—it’s alignment.
It says: your worth isn’t determined by your birthplace.
It says: we all gain when everyone has the freedom to build, move, and thrive.

This is how we grow wealth.
This is how we build justice.
This is how the future begins.

1️⃣8️⃣ We Used to Believe in This

For most of U.S. history, immigration was largely unrestricted.
People arrived with little more than hope—and built prosperity that lifted generations.

Closed borders are the recent, relatively impoverishing experiment.
They stifle the very growth we once embraced.

1️⃣7️⃣ Freedom to Move = Freedom to Flourish

Migration is one of the purest expressions of freedom.
It’s how people escape danger, pursue dreams, and build futures.

But it’s not just about them.
When people are free to flourish, everyone benefits.
New businesses. New care workers. New ideas.

Freedom of movement unlocks prosperity—for all of us.

1️⃣6️⃣ Birthplace Shouldn’t Block Opportunity

Being born on the wrong side of a line shouldn’t lock you out of opportunity.
Most migrants aren’t asking for citizenship.
They’re asking to live, work, and contribute.

Every blocked visa is a missed partnership.
A missed startup.
A missed solution.
A missed friendship.

When we close the door, we don’t just keep people out.
We keep futures out, too.

Borders shouldn’t block freedom—or investment.

1️⃣5️⃣ Blocking the Investment

People migrate anyway—just unsafely and with added impoverishment.

The red tape doesn’t stop movement.
It just makes it cruel, costly, and inefficient.

And it doesn’t just hurt them.
It cuts off investment—of time, talent, and trust—from people eager to contribute and those eager to benefit.

Legal paths don’t just make people safer.
They make everyone richer.

1️⃣4️⃣ This Isn’t Charity

“We can’t help everyone,” they say.
But they’re not asking for help.

They’re asking for permission to contribute.
To invest in a life here.
To build, to work, to care, to thrive.

And the returns?
They pay dividends for all of us.

This isn’t charity. It’s opportunity.

1️⃣3️⃣ Wouldn’t Everyone Come?

Only about 10% of people in any generation want to move more than 100 miles.

We’ll never be so lucky that all 10% want to come here.
And refugees? They didn’t choose to leave.

We’re 4.3% of the world’s population.
It would take half of all migrants to double our size.

The pickings are slim.

1️⃣2️⃣ What About Crime?

Data shows immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than natives.

It’s not a matter of opinion.
It’s fact.
Fear doesn’t match reality.

1️⃣1️⃣ What About Culture?

Culture isn’t a museum—it’s a forge.

New voices, foods, beliefs, and rhythms don’t replace the old.
They alloy with them—stronger, richer, more resilient.

Syncretism isn’t loss. It’s evolution.
That’s how cultures grow, adapt, and endure.

🔟 Global Gains, Local Benefits

Immigration reduces prices, fills vital roles, and boosts innovation.

Wages remain stable, services expand, and societies grow richer in every sense.

9️⃣ The Innovation Engine

From Google to Moderna, immigrants lead.
They start companies, file patents, and win Nobels.

Letting talent flow makes the future arrive faster.

WilliamLMillerwilliamlmiller

8️⃣ Immigrants Contribute

Immigrants pay taxes, often use fewer services, and support families here and abroad.

Letting them work legally increases contributions—and dignity—for all.

7️⃣ Labor Markets Adapt

Labor markets aren’t machines—they’re ecosystems.
When people move, the system flexes. It respecializes. It grows.

Immigrants don’t “take” jobs.
They fill roles, create demand, and unlock new combinations of talent.

A dynamic economy absorbs and adapts.

WilliamLMillerwilliamlmiller

6️⃣ The Economists Agree

Economists—left, right, and center—overwhelmingly support more immigration.

Not out of idealism, but because the data is clear: it works.

WilliamLMillerwilliamlmiller

5️⃣ People, Not Problems

Immigration policy often starts with fear.
What if we started with people?

With their dreams. Their skills. Their kids. Their courage.

People aren’t a problem to manage.
They’re potential to welcome.
