#PacificTreeOctopus

#Today, 4 days until my first Mastoversary

A hundred bits o’ #BadPoetry
The alt-history of #JohnMastodon
and his Neo-Lithic backstory at the dawn of the #AnthropoScene

Was it the lure of the #PacificTreeOctopus
Or the fun of #MinCup23
That drew me to post
a #ThickTrunkTuesday tree?

I never dipped but a toe
Into the Xitter of X
Enough to see the reality
Of media that is a vex

BlueSky holds interest
Though its mostly niche
It has that academic feel
But also a bit pastiche

#Mastodon is freeing
#Mastodon lets me…be me-ing

If you care about ecology and the environment, consider following the #PacificTreeOctopus and #ArborealCephalopods and the ongoing fight to save their threatened #TreesIsHabitat

#ThickTrunkTuesday circa 1983

This is the furthest (known) inland breeding tree for the #PacificTreeOctopus as they are able to migrate up the Rogue River only to Rainey Falls. This is due more to the climate, as their innate ability to climb falls (and trees) is largely unsurpassed in the animal kingdom.

As we approach the beginning of spring migration, the Oregon Coast Aquarium is once again offering the “adoption” of the #PacificTreeOctopus which also supports the Aquarium and our #Coastal biota of all kinds.

Plus, you get a reasonable facsimile of our arboreal acquaintances.

Remember, migration is upon us…so give our tentacled friends a brake as you ply the coastal highways and byways.

Use your heads people…the migration is upon us.

Be especially careful when driving Hwy 101 in areas where forests are proximal to creeks and intertidal zones.

@jamesmarshall @tsturm @Sheril

Like our earliest ancestors, the Arboreal Cephalopods have taken to the trees.

@Anthro Surely, the journey of the #PacificTreeOctopus to these lofty arboreal heights, increases predation by schools of #Mastodorca pacificus parvus ?

Thick trunks and moss make the ideal habitat, crucial for maintaining healthy populations of the #PacificTreeOctopus. But passage corridors with thick understory are also needed to help the arboreal cephalopods journey to these lofty nesting grounds.

#Today

Let’s get our heads together for the arboreal cephalopods…and let the limits of their locomotion be our motivation.

I am hoping these will be today’s top trending #s.

More elusive than the #PacificTreeOctopus

Similarly, knowing where to look increases the odds of the finding.

Never migrated…never partook of the tweet.

This site seems pretty easy to use if I am doing it right:

Start by liking what you like, and follow who you think might be good to see more from. When you see a # you are interested in…like #PacificTreeOctopus click on it and see what’s in there…then add it to the list of ### you follow.

Home icon will feature content from those people/areas of interest.

Have I got this right?

@cascadepine

I believe those are fertilized eggs of the #PacificTreeOctopus.

Nice find.
