Marek Jancovic: Vibe-Coding for Historians: How I Digitized 21.000 Archival Documents Without Coding Skills. “The following is a case report on how I’ve managed to turn all of these images into accurate text data, group them into document clusters and automatically date them, label them with meaningful topics and entities, and embed them in a database that allows me to search and talk to the […]

Alex Chan: Hard problems in social media archiving. “Institutional archiving has different constraints to individual collections – institutions serve a much wider audience, so their decisions need consistency and boundaries. My own scrapbook is tiny and personal, and comparing it alongside institutional efforts really highlights the differences and difficulties. It’s why I usually call it a […]

Lifehacker: Here’s What Happened When I Gave ‘Vibe Coding’ a Try. “According to a lot of AI enthusiasts I see on X, vibe coding means ‘it’s over’ (whatever ‘it’ is), and people are ‘one-shotting’ all kinds of projects (as in, using a single prompt to create something). To investigate further, I tried to create a little project of my own using ChatGPT and Gemini. Here’s how it went.”

Terence Eden: Now witness the power of this fully operational Fediverse!. “Until fairly recently, the Mastodon social network didn’t send referer details. I thought that reduced the visibility of the network and lobbied for it to change. As various Mastodon servers upgrade, and admins opt-in, it is becoming more apparent just how much traffic originates from the Fediverse.”

TidBITS: ChatGPT Atlas Digitized Book Tables That Stymied Other OCR Tools. “I got sucked down another geeky rabbit hole. While I doubt that wanting to perform optical character recognition on large tables in a book is a common desire, it was enough of a learning experience with modern AI tools that I can’t resist sharing.”

If like me, you suddenly feel sleepy right around 11:30 AM, take a nap instead of going wild on caffeinated drinks. When you take this nap, the rest of the day you will be energetic and ready to tackle everything. You can enjoy your coffee/tea after this sleeping session. This way, you'll see that you won't even crash that hard when the caffeine levels drop. Its truly amazing!
This has been my own personal experience; I hope it helps someone increase their productivity.

Android Authority: I built my smart home with Google; here’s how it fell apart. “That was 2019 or so. We’re in 2025, and boy, what a difference six years make! I’ve moved countries, bought a new house, and expanded my smart home setup to several dozen items interspersed in a dozen or so apps. I tried to stick with Google Home for the longest time as the one link between it all, but it all […]

BBC: Strangers mocked me in my wheelchair for ‘tongue out’ trend on TikTok. Nobody intervened. “I’d become the latest victim of the ‘tongue-out’ TikTok prank, where people stick their tongue out at strangers while pulling a face, and film their reaction – but this time twisted to mock me for my disability.”

Business Insider: Sora might have a ‘pervert’ problem on its hands. “At first, it was just one or two videos. But it picked up steam. In the last week or so, 10 out of the 25 most popular cameos using my face are various fetishes, including one where I’m a centaur-woman pregnant with octoplets. It’s not just me, either. I’ve seen this kind of content made with cameos of other women: female […]

Mashable: A mass exit from social media. “It was hard to predict how many would be joining us for this ‘Delete Day’ — having no more social media ourselves, we hit the streets with fliers and chalk to spread the word over the past couple of weeks. At the same time, we weren’t surprised by the energetic turnout. People are ready to take a real stance against the attention economy: it’s […]

Hints:
You are responsible for other people's feelings when their feelings are a result of your actions.
Your public figure is more important than you realize; even a lack of strict rules doesn't mean you should do and say anything you want.
Last but not least: People might not notice you as much as you think they do, but that means when they do notice you, you've done something noticeable and that's the kind of thing people tend to remember. Try to be noticed the best way you can.

The Peak: Documenting my transition away from Google’s search engine. “While it may seem impossible to completely remove a tech monopoly from your life, search engines and web browsers are an easy starting point and make a difference. I decided to try two of the top web browser alternatives and compare them so you can choose which one is right for you.”

Raymond Camden: My Experience Asking GenAI to Design My Blog. “What was my experience using GenAI tools to design my blog? Well, you’re looking at it! As I mentioned last week, my new design came from one of my experiments using GenAI to help me design a new theme, but I wanted to share a bit more about the experience when I had time, and that time is now.”

Just a quick reminder to everyone who sleeps really late at night and have to wake up with the rest of the family because they're loud and won't let you have a full sleep: Your lack of concentration, your foggy mind and your slow speed for getting things done, these are all caused by a lack of proper sleep. I've had a messed up sleep schedule and often couldn't sleep as long as I needed to, but I also have been getting a few nights of good sleep recently as well and I'm really seeing the changes here. I'm even typing better (haha!)
Not only the duration of the sleep matters, but the time in which you go to sleep also matters very much. A night's sleep usually refreshes your body much better compared to sleeping at 5 AM in the morning and getting a good eight hour sleep until 1PM.

Little Man In My Head: Lessons learned from doing cryptographic research with ChatGPT. “Following an earlier mostly successful experiment of vibe coding to build a simple JavaScript game, I decided to take it to the next level: see if I can use ChatGPT to assist me in discovering a new and improved algorithm for reversing JavaScript’s Math.rand( ) function. Specifically the research showed a […]

Raymond Camden: Connecting Comic Books to Generative AI. “This week I was wondering – given that GenAI tools are pretty good at understanding images – how well could a GenAI system take a set of images, in order, and understand the context of the story behind them. I decided to give it a shot and honestly, I’m pretty impressed by the results.”
