After almost 4 years, I finally finished Project DIVA Extend (with a keyboard)!!

This was my first #ProjectDIVA game, and I already finished F 2nd and X a year ago.

Fucking hell.

Only a few more songs to go and I cleared this game in #hard mode (without macros). And that while I have the rhythm of a pan of burned soba. But still got The Intense Voice Of Hatsune Miku to go, which is even worse than #TheDisappearanceOfHatsuneMiku. Still, proud of myself 🥹.

I just sat down and watched like 6 Future Tone PVs in a row and honestly… that was very therapeutic. I guess I needed that.

And also, I think KAITO sounds really good on Idol Radio (Game edit) Like, better than I remember, and I played that song a lot. His tuning sounds from my perspective, shockingly human for the technology of the time. #ProjectDiva

🧵 4/4 I’m sure my thoughts will continue to evolve as I play the other games in the series more, especially the jump to the VITA games that do introduce other mechanics.

I like Future Tone, don’t get me wrong. Would never part with my copy of DX because I love having such a massive song list in one game with pretty graphics and all that jazz. But the older games in the series so far that I’ve tried them out hold up remarkably well in comparison and in some ways surpass it. #HatsuneMiku #ProjectDiva

🧵 3/? The YouTuber in question always brought up the fact that Future tone (Arcade) is an arcade port but for me I didn’t understand what difference that made. I thought back to the PSP and reasoned that the buttons are essentially the same, so who cares?

Until I actually played on an arcade cabinet. That is when I found out just how controller unfriendly Future Tone (Arcade) is. Yes it can work, but it’s honestly hell once you get into the extreme charts and aside from a few godly players, you end up having to use macros to clear a lot of songs.

Compare that to the PSP original which made use of just 4 face buttons. The stripped down nature of the first game in a sense has a very real punk rock vibe to it when you play on the hard difficulty.

When I first started playing Project Diva Future Tone I started watching this YouTuber who had been a long time fan of the series. He had nothing but criticism for the game in comparison to its predecessors on PSP and Vita. At the time I didn’t know what he was talking about because I had never played those earlier games, and to me Future Tone was a lot of fun!

Now that I’m playing the original Project Diva I actually understand what we he was talking about. He was definitely arguing in good faith looking back on it.

One thing I’ve noticed about this game in comparison to FT is that even on the easier difficulties the game is still fun. Especially the normal mode it feels like a perfect balance between challenge and fun. #HatsuneMiku #ProjectDiva

I just got Project Diva Arcade Future Tone running on my laptop at last. I tried doing this a few months ago on windows, but it didn't work, at the time. Thought it was probably because I was running an amd gpu, even though there are plugins to fix that.

Decided to try installing it on Linux with Lutris, with low hopes of it working. Used a script from lutris.net and add the Divagl plugin for my amd gpu, and it just worked first try :neocat_surprised:! Like, there was no finagling with config files at all.

Moral of the story: Windows Bad. Wine good :bunhdhappy:.

Currently playing through the Ace Attorney and Project Diva series. I want to pick Persona 5 Royal (and Persona 3 Reload) back up eventually,,, My other favorite games are Rhythm Heaven, DDR, Danganronpa, and Splatoon! Also very fond of the PS Vita and 3DS era and won't shut up about it.

I collect manga! Mostly my favorites Black Butler and Sailor Moon, but also Ima Koi, Kamisama Kiss, and a few other series I got volumes of from a friend. Perhaps Fangs and Death Note in the future...

My favorite anime are also Black Butler and Sailor Moon, along with Death Parade, Love Live, and Yuri on Ice.

I very casually collect k-pop albums/merch. I have most of BTS' Korean discography, a few SHINee albums, a Jonghyun album, and a Minho poster. Eventually I want to get lightsticks for both groups and more SHINee members' solo albums.

Also got hit with the yaoi beam so my interest in that is back in full force along with everything else. But tbh did it ever really go away?
