The #QuNET initiative’s SE3 experiments have begun. A research aircraft sends single photons to an ion trap at #MPL labs, involving @DLR, @Fraunhofer_IOF, and @FraunhoferHHI. The aircraft circles MPL, sending photons to a ground station telescope. Funded by the @bmbf_bund, QuNET is creating secure IT networks to counter future cyber attacks. In one paper, the authors report on a study of the effect of atmospheric turbulence on finite-size decoy-state BB84 quantum key distribution (#QKD). I've done some fairly high-level meetings over the last years, but today, I think I can say that they've all been surpassed.
I was invited to a "high-level informal presidential discussion" for the Human Rights Council at the UN to talk about emerging technologies like quantum and AI.
Our definitions of informal are somewhat different, but at least I decided to where shoes.
