Anyone that happens to have a #Recteq X-fire Pro pellet grill and has been disappointed with the relatively lackluster level of smoke flavor in smoke mode, I've discovered a simple fix. Toss a chunk of apple wood (or your wood of choice) right on top of the flame guard on the smoke side. No need to soak or pre-light or anything. It will smolder during each smoke, lasting a long time while adding a lot of smoke flavor.

I smoked some chicken wings today on my #Recteq. We have dry rubbed with a homemade #BBQ mix my 8 yo made for Father's Day. We have some traditional #Buffalo and then a few with a jalapeño apple BBQ sauce. And then lastly, a few plain ones for my youngest.

Add on a side of grilled corn and #CrackerBarrel style cooked carrots and we are eating good for lunch today!

Took charge and made my own #FathersDay dinner. My youngest didn't enjoy it, but I did!

The steak was a Tri-Tip that I reverse seared on the #Recteq. I dry rubbed it with a mix of salt, pepper, garlic powder and #Starbucks ground medium roast coffee. The baby potatoes were air fried with olive oil and garlic and then topped with Italian blend cheese. I also served pan roasted green beans. It was all pretty tasty!

It may be 22° outside, but it’s been a constant 225° of brisket smoking ambient perfection in my RecTeq RT-700 Bull since 11:20 PM last night. Expecting these 12 pound briskets from Costco to take about 11 hours to reach 205° internal.

A friend is coming over to play #BoardGames all day so taking this chance to smoke some meat on the #RecTeq #grill

Got this recipe from their website. Its called "Mississippi Pot Roast." Chuck roast is going to go on the smoker for 2 hours, after being liberally rubbed, and while that smokes, this concoction of pepperoncini peppers and beef stock is going to heat on the grill. 2 hours, I'll put the beef in the simmering liquids for another 2 hours. Update to come!

On weekdays, Shelly gets up at 4 AM to get ready for school. Today (Saturday morning) Moose decided to wake me up at 5 AM because it was time to go outside. I checked the pork butt on the smoker, and it was at about 155° internal temperature, so that’s close enough to the stall to wrap.

Grilled chicken tonight with roasted brussels sprouts and a garden salad. I brushed w/ olive oil & sprinkled with “sweet heat” BBQ rub. 2 tablespoons of olive oil on the cut Brussels, with some Traeger rub. Cooked the chicken 45 minutes, the Brussels 30 minutes at 400° on the RecTeq smoker.

Shelly made the salad, which was amazing. Trying to get back to our low carb, “lean and green” meals together, as our holidays draw to a close. #foodie #bbq #backyardBBQ #BBQlife #recteq #RecTeqLifestyle
