The conjecture about our panel is absolutely false on both counts: Meta was directly challenged and queer, specifically trans, community building on the fediverse was raised. Bringing that panel together at the biggest annual human rights event goes in the plus column, obviously.

Last week, I joined 3,200 digital rights activists, tech policymakers, researchers and co. representatives in Taipei at #RightsCon.
Doge's budget cuts were a big topic of convo.
But something else kept coming up: it’s not just the funding cuts that's presenting "existential challenges" to tech + rights, it's that the USgov has gone from taking the leading role in supporting an open/safe internet to leading in dismantling it.

今天的閉幕式很美也有著哀傷，一如人生。
開場談到被埃及關押的異議人士，想到明天就是 228 — 依舊有許多人在對抗著國家暴力，為民主奮戰、犧牲與傷神。
閉幕座談，台上四位都是女性。這一波對公民社會與人權行動的經費被砍，除了美國的 USAID 之外，歐洲各國也大幅刪減相關預算，全球經費少了 1/3，幾乎是斷頭式的衝擊。怎麼因應？還有哪些要做的？經費的劇減，是否正好反應出如此仰賴資本主義世界的贊助邏輯並不合理？
很多問題沒有解答。但主持人最後以西班牙語的溫柔詩歌，承接了那麼多的擔憂和不確定。
#RightsCon 是我參加過的國際會議中，酒水不是最華麗充足的，但與會者所帶來的真誠和勇氣，卻是讓人最有共感的一次。
三天的議程下來，能量和感觸太多，以致於閉幕式之後，只能拖著快虛脫的身體，吃碗熱湯麵，一路昏睡到剛剛。起來看到人在德國的朋友，傳來新的酷兒連結。
要做的事很多，鳥事更是源源不絕😌但願大家也能好好照顧自己，找到時間休息、重整，繼續人生與世界的下一步。
