I think I'm riding #SoundTransit light rail illegally, though not on purpose.
I installed a virtual #OrcaCard on my phone while hoofing it across SeaTac, was looking for a scanner at the entrance to the station, but didn't send a one. Went up to the platform, none there either. A fellow passenger was as clueless as me, and a train was coming, so I just got on.
Nice trains.
I think they're the same as #SCVTA's under the hood, just more stylish lines (not hard).

The #SCVTA has a bus patriotically wrapped to honor veterans.
It's nice.
Though it ends up looking like a #SamTrans bus.

Here's one I took either with the #Duaflex or the #Hawkeye, not sure anymore. It's really pretty nice and crisp.
You can see one effect of the simple lens in the curve of that trolley-wire support pole. I'm pretty sure in real life it's completely straight. This is a nice modern steel pole, probably 25-30 years old or so, on the #SCVTA (if it was an old wooden pole on the #SFMuni, I wouldn't be quite so sure!). The first version is the original, and has kind of low contrast. The second version is color-enhanced with #Irfanview. My bet is the negative is on the overexposed end (the lab sent me scans electronically, and I haven't picked up the negs yet).
But, decent results for a 75-year old (at least) low-end camera.

@luis_in_brief @morgan I wouldn't really want to live in a gallery car, though if you got rid of the upper level, that could be a nice big space for something (train church!).
Well I guess if you wanted to make a bunk house for a summer camp, that might work too; kids would have fun climbing around in there, and you could actually fit a row of little bunks in the upper levels if you took out the seats.
But I think it's the Bombardiers that could make really nice cabins. Lots of interesting ways you could configure living space between the two main levels and the half-elevated sections at the ends.
Someone needs to make a diner out of a modern LRV. The big boxy ones on the #SCVTA would probably work pretty well.

As much as I love #sfmuni and #scvta, #lametro isn't afraid to let light rail trains haul ass and it's awesome!

@soaproot Searching around, I found this document which gives first responders guidelines for working around railroads.

This picture is interesting: it illustrates grounding the overhead to the rails. This way if anyone has to get near the overhead, and it gets turned back on, the current will have an easy path to ground and hopefully blow a circuit breaker instantly. I guess with these in place, you'd feel a little more confident knocking a t-shirt off the wire with a wooden pole!

I've seen these in use on the #SCVTA when they have been doing overhead work.

Ever since I started going to Foto Express, I've been finding that downtown SJ has a lot of opportunities for good pictures.
The big light blob is due to user error. I accidentally opened the back of the camera. I keep a few rubber bands wrapped around it now.
