As the cost of living rises, the latest SMBC makes me sad that enjoying a juicy (vegan) burger is so much more expensive than a beef burger. They *should* be cheaper in theory, and the cheapskates like me would probably chow down on cheap Vegan burgers perfectly happily.

Are pensioners really a valid model for a #UBI society as #smbccomics suggests?

Or are there other factors, like work/university/HS/MS culture or a need to prove oneself to the world, that would keep science and engineering spinning?

Are pensioners actually significantly less able to work, or are they just fed up with working for others?

How many pensioners work for the public good vs how many exclusively tend to family when not consuming entertainment?
