subscription.
* This is because a Pro subscription requires #CreditCardVerification, which
serves as age assurance under UK law.

What this means for you in the UK

* Free Users: #SafeSearch will be automatically enabled by default. To view
all content on Flickr, you will need to upgrade to a Pro account.
* Pro Users: No action is needed. Your ability to turn SafeSearch off remains
unchanged.

How This Affects All Users Traveling to the UK

If you travel to the #UnitedKingdom, your Flickr experience will temporarily
align with #UKregulations. While you are in the UK, SafeSearch may be
automatically enabled on your account. Your full account access and settings
will be restored automatically once you leave the UK.

What You Need to Do

* For Users Outside the UK: No action is required on your part.
* For Users Inside the UK: Please be aware that after July 24, free users

@dec_hl I think something like an #App #curator site that allows #filtering / has said filters set by default as a "#SafeSearch" would be propably best...

The core problem is that since there's no #affiliate program woth #Apple's #AppStore nor #GooglePlay and @EUCommission having killed competitiors to the latter like #AndroidPit #AppCenter with #VAT shite, there is no ethical way to monetize it once it exceeds the average #WebHoster's "unlimited traffic" plans...

Not to mention it'll get #downranked and #shadowbanned from both platfirms pretty quickly.

Ich habe mich die letzten Wochen gewundert warum Youtube plötzlich im "Restricted Mode" läuft und ich diesen im Profil auch nicht ausschalten kann. Ich hatte lange Zeit Invidious im Verdacht, aber jetzt habe ich den "Übeltäter" gefunden: AdGuard (Hatte bisher pi-hole benutzt)

Schuld ist die unscheinbare Funktion "Safe Search", einfach das Häckchen bei Youtube entfernen und alles läuft wieder normal 😊

Mit IP-Adresse aus Südkorea ist es nicht möglich, sich #Google-Ergebnisse ohne den fehlerhaften Jugendschutz-Filter anzeigen zu lassen – außer man durchläuft die Alterskontrolle. Grund seien lokale Gesetze. Die Google-Pressestelle verweigert die Antwort, in welchen Ländern das noch der Fall ist.

Angestoßen durch die Presseanfrage im Rahmen der Recherche hat die Landesmedienanstalt Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein ein Telefonat mit Vertreter*innen von #Google geführt und sie auf das Problem hingewiesen. Google habe demnach zurückgemeldet, dass man sich das näher anschaue.

Every major browser started blocking my personal family website saying that it contained phishing asking for private information. I checked and there was nothing visible, no externally loaded #javascipt and the local code's files all matched their original hashes.

No one had broken in.

Turns out that #Google had set "#SafeSearch" to do this to any #Yunohost site they were aware of (eg emailed to a Gmail account).

With that they blocked Yunohost sites from every major browser.
