Anybody used #presearch ? Stumbled across it today and it looks like a pretty decent, #decentralized , #private #searchengine . Curious if anyone has had issues or know if there's some weird unethical practices going on I'm unaware of.

O Neocities (plataforma que hospeda sites pessoais simples feito em HTML) foi cancelado pelo Bing sem justificativa. Todo motor de busca que usa resultados do Bing (DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, Qwant, Lilo, Yahoo etc) não vai mostrar os milhares de sites criativos e blogs que existem hospedados no Neocities.
E se bobear, nem são os únicos...
Para aqueles que usam esses motores de busca como padrão, o dia que vocês quiserem encontrar sites artesanais como muitos dos hospedados no Neocities, o jeito é fazer a busca temporariamente em outro motor de pesquisa que não seja ancorado no Bing. (além do Google, tem o Kagi (pago), Mojeek, Marginalia, Brave Search, Startpage - com exceção do Marginalia que privilegia conteúdo não comercial e site antigos (logo lista os sites do Neocities), não testei se os outros mostram resultados pertinentes de sites "artesanais" - a cada um de experimentar).

@literalgrill Bing is prone to de-index domains without apparent reason. I have this problem on-and-off for four years, and it knocks my site off many search engines.

Yes, nowadays, #search is more difficult, renowned sources are getting more and more invisible inmidst #AISlop.
But we still have the choice: *not* using #LLM and using #noAI versions of #searchmachines! There's more than Google. We can change it.

Since december 18th 2025 I am using @StartpageSearch as my main search engine. Never felt the need to be recurring to other search engines since then. I encourage you all to try this one and use it as your default.

Je regardais hier un peu les différents proposés et j'étais tenté par Ecosia car européen et utilisait l'argent des revenus publicitaires pour planter des arbres MAIS et c'est pour moi un no-go, il y a un bouton recherche IA... et de plus, j'ai constaté que la source des résultats était Google ou Bing... Alors, où est l'intérêt?! Et une IA éco-responsable... ça ressemble pour moi à du green washing...
Las, je me suis rabattu sur Qwant qui est aussi européen. Un bon choix?

🇬🇧 Choosing a search engine is nowadays not an easy task between sear engines that steal our data or use AI... it is very complicated in my opinion to find a search engine that do the job...
Yesterday, I came across Ecosia and it sounds interesting until I dig get deeper. At first sight, it is european (based in Berlin) and uses revenues to plant trees BUT there is a AI search available and also the results come in fact from Google and/or Bing, then I ask me, what's the point of all this?! And claiming that their AI is eco-friendly looks like to me it's just green washing...
Finally, I decided to give a try at the other European search engine : Qwant. A good choice?
What about you, what search engine do you use and would recommend?

Is there a way to set up a self-hosted websearch with RAG that let's me search across a small subset of websites?
Usecase: I want to get an overview over all events (concerts, conferences, small gatherings, etc) in my home town. Atm there's no single portal that covers everything, and I have to search manually across 5-10 websites.
(Yes, I've tried RSS-generators, but they are very cumbersome to work with)
