National Trust Saltram, Devon

Orangery built in 1773 framed by one of several magnificent old Sweet Chestnuts (Castanea sativa) to be found in the gardens.

Most of the image is taken up by a large horse chestnut tree. Its trunk is to the right and the branches and leaves fall either side. between the trunk and branches in the the centre is the facade of a white building. Seven of eight stone pillars are visible, with the doorway in the centre and floor to ceiling windows with small panes in between the pillars. In front of the orangery stand two potted orange trees. Below the tree is a native wild flower meadow and in the border several exotic plants.

I took part in my first ever race today. The January Jaunt 10k organised by Plympton Round Table. Very pleased to have done 59:22 in my first ever 10k!

With about 15 metres to go and nothing left to give, I am the only person in the photo running on a paved surface beside a wooden fence. I am wearing red and grey trainers, black socks, black shorts and a purple and white short-sleeved running shirt with my number attached to the front under the word Storm which is the name of the running club which I belong to.
