Rainbow off of Seacliff State Beach (CA) with Pleasure Point near Capitola in the distance. We got in a nice Alie dog walk between the rain.

Sunrise in Aptos CA this morning.
And at Seacliff State Beach on the Alie walk. The view is looking south-east over storm damage with the Santa Lucia mountains and Monterey in the distance. It unfortunate that all the work that CA State Parks did cleaning up and repairing Seacliff due to last January's storm is largely undone with this recent storm. These weather patterns are the new normal, sadly.
Pretty ocean and storm cloud colors on the pre-rain Alie dog walk this morning.
Ocean and storm cloud view from the cliff above Seacliff State Beach (CA) and down at the beach, both looking south-east toward the Salinas and Monterey areas.
Nice Alie walk at Seacliff State Beach this morning in between the rain.
The photo is looking south-east toward Monterey (CA) and Pacific Grove where the Santa Lucia mountains dip to the ocean at Point Pinos. The remains of the SS Palo Alto is in the foreground.
Seacliff State Beach in California - the oncoming storm is proving interesting cloud colors and patterns.
Left: Looking south-east toward the Salinas valley where the Santa Lucia mountains turn south and form the western side of the valley as seen from Seacliff State Beach this morning. The Aptos Creek is flowing to the ocean
Right: Looking south with bigger than normal waves and the SS Palo Alto in the back ground.
Got a nice dog walk in before the rains arrive.
Seacliff State Beach and the Aptos Creek on the Alie dog walk this morning. I thought that the mist rising off of the waves was interesting.
The fog in the center of the Monterey bay is hiding the Santa Lucia Mountains and the Monterey area in this view looking south.
Another interesting cloud and sky color pattern taken at Seacliff State Beach (CA) during the Alie dog walk this morning. The view is looking south toward the Salinas area where the Santa Lucia mountains dip into the Salinas valley and turn south to form the western edge of the valley. The old Moss Landing power plant smoke stacks can be seen toward the right.
There was a nice cloud pattern and morning light yesterday morning at Seacliff State Beach (CA). The view is looking south toward the Santa Lucia Mountains and the Monterey area beyond the remains of the SS Palo Alto.
The storm is finally coming into the Monterey Bay area in California.
Both photos are looking south from Seacliff State Beach across the Monterey Bay toward the Santa Lucia Mountain Range and the Monterey area on the Alie dog walk this morning.
Left, before the Alie dog walk: Looking toward Monterey and Pacific Grove at the point.
Right, after the Alie dog walk: Looking toward Salinas and Monterey.

Crow on a railing near the ocean at Seacliff State Beach (CA) on the Alie dog walk this morning.
I read the "Gifts of the Crow" by Marzluff and Angell a few years ago. They're amazingly smart birds.
Seacliff State Beach (CA) photos during the Alie dog walk this morning.
With the overcast, it seemed like we were experiencing an early stage of the oncoming storm. But a few hours later, now, I'm in my office and the sun is out. My little squirrel friend is in the yard beyond my window.
With so much going on in the world these days, sometimes you have to stop, take a break, and look at something different.
Left: Seacliff State Beach looking beyond driftwood and a totem toward the remains of the SS Palo Alto.
Right: Seacliff State Beach looking beyond the Aptos Creek toward the remains of the SS Palo Alto and then Capitola and Pleasure Point to the north-west.
Mostly full moon descending this morning during the Alie dog walk. Both taken from Seacliff State Beach and looking toward New Brighton State Beach and Capitola toward the left.

Another overcast day on the California Central Coast at Seacliff State Beach.
Some people like foggy and overcast weather. Mostly I think that's heresy.
Photo 1: The sun is teasing me.
Photo 2: The remains of the SS Palo Alto and in the background are Capitola and Pleasure Point.
For those that don't know. There was a pier that ran out to the remains of the SS Palo Alto that was destroyed in the storms in January.
Alie the Border Collie enjoying a walk at Seacliff State Beach this morning.

On our bike ride this morning we stopped at Seacliff State Beach. The fog was so thick that the cement ship just off shore was completely hidden.
