πŸ’€ Breaking Up With the 8-Hour Sleep Myth

After months of sleep tracking, I discovered something radical:
My optimal sleep isn't 8 hours. It's 6.5.

Turns out, the "8-hour rule":
β–Έ Isn't scientifically absolute
β–Έ Ignores individual variability
β–Έ Can create performance anxiety that worsens sleep

What worked instead:
βœ“ Letting go of perfectionism
βœ“ Focusing on sleep cycles (not hours)

I don't see self-experimentation as an ethical issue, but of course it should not be the first line of treatment if one gets a cancer diagnosis. I also have doubts if publications of such case studies encourage others to try similar approach to treat their cancer. I mean, if someone can understand and perform the protocol, they should be also aware of the risks of basing their treatment on a study of n=1.

Earlier today I fasted while doing work (physically laborious workday).
I then spent time with a colleague walking around and shopping.
When I got home, I had burned 2,506 calories according to my Fitbit!

I was able to fast 22 hours today before I ate #OMAD (one meal a day) of:
roasted garlic chicken thigh, a soft-boiled egg, a garden salad,
an ice cream sandwich bar, a glass of icy ginger ale

The next few weeks, my aim is to do 1-3 full day, (24+ hour fasts)
to stimulate #autophagy to help my body heal itself from a minor skin irritation

My goal is to test how effective prolonged #fasting resolves this skin
condition aside from the prescription cream I'm using which is slowly working this season
