The 's opposition to secularism was again demonstrated on in 1906, when issued encyclical . It denounced France's abrogation of the 1801 Concordat and decried the enshrined in a 1905 law there.

It is intolerable that one cult's false beliefs are being imposed on people who are *not members* of their sect - using police state violence to force their false beliefs onto the public.

This is an absolute violation of everyone's constitutional rights, whether you personally would ever have an abortion or not.

That decision is between you, your doctor, and your beliefs - not between you and a christo fascist govt official.

Forced birth is a human rights violation.

National Council of Jewish Women
Because reproductive freedom is a Jewish value.

Save the Date for Repro Shabbat!

It's almost time for Repro Shabbat, taking place February 13-14, when we read Parshat Mishpatim. Since it's launch in 2021, Repro Shabbat has grown from 400 participating communities to nearly 2,500 celebrations nationwide, lifting up the critical importance of the Jewish value of reproductive freedom and Judaism's teachings on reproductive health, rights, and justice.

From AU:
This year, America celebrates our 250th anniversary of declaring independence from our colonial overlords. As an American history nerd, the Fourth of July has always been one of my favorite holidays to celebrate.

The semiquincentennial celebration will be massive; but as the milestone approaches, we must prepare ourselves. We’re obliged to fight lies with the truth in this climate of disinformation, which will worsen as we near the big day. More importantly, if we hope to achieve some of the aspirations written into our founding documents, we must unite behind our shared values and recommit to separating church and state.

America’s 250th: Celebrating, fighting lies, and uniting behind shared values
February 2, 2026
Andrew L. Seidel

Christian Nationalism is an entire identity based on disinformation. There is no scholarly debate about the central claim of Christian Nationalism. Most — nearly all — serious historians agree that America was not founded as a Christian nation in any meaningful legal, philosophical, or constitutional sense. Christian Nationalism is not a scholarly debate about our history. It’s a sinister, exclusionary movement that seeks to redefine America according to the Christian Nationalist disinformation and then reshape our law accordingly.

From the Shalom Center:
Rabbi Nate’s remarks at “Defund ICE” interfaith press conference

This past Wednesday, February 4th, Rabbi Nate DeGroot joined over 200 interfaith leaders who gathered at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Detroit, Michigan, for a press conference to speak against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) abuses, calling for increased ICE accountability and decreased DHS funding.

...A community that has risen up in non-violent civil disobedience, because they know that “the other” is a bill of goods peddled by a grifting wannabe Pharaoh.

A community that has been inspired into action:

- Organizing food drives to feed immigrant families who no longer feel safe leaving their homes.

- Escorting children to school.

- Passing out whistles and blowing those whistles to alert neighbors of ICE activity.

- Offering protective presence outside of preschools.

- Singing faith and hope and possibility into being.

A massive civil society effort to shield neighbors from state violence.

As people of conscience we know that what ICE is doing in Minneapolis and all across this country is wrong:

- Targeting the easiest people to catch.

- Tearing families apart.

- Detaining children.

- With no regard to citizenship status or criminal activity.

- Arresting people at courthouses who are there to comply with the law.

- Rounding up workers who are simply trying to survive in a broken immigration system.

- Deporting people who this administration has made undocumented through their own predatory policies.

We are living under the authoritarian rule of an administration built on White, Christian Supremacy. An administration that has been explicit in declaring that this country belongs to them. That wants to cleanse the nation of people they despise...

As Jews, we don’t need a reminder of where this leads.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry says, “I just think that it’s high time that we embrace what tradition and heritage is in this country.”

Does he mean U.S. traditions such as:
▶️ Chattel slavery, Jim Crow, and racial terrorism.
▶️ Denial of the right to vote of women, people of color, the poor.
▶️ Repression of Judaism, Catholicism, Atheism, Islam, and others.
▶️ Rounding up and detaining citizens of Asian ancestry.
▶️ Laws explicitly blocking Asian residents from obtaining citizenship.

So many more that we could list.

[Editorial] National Religious Freedom Day marks a legal tradition meant to restrain government power over belief. But the 2026 proclamation signals a shift, recasting religious liberty from constitutional protection into a state-driven project promoting public faith and privileging one religious tradition.

Prayers to your chosen god should be offered up before you attend public meetings, not at the start of the meeting. I was taught that only hypocrites pray where they can be seen by others. Matthew 6: 5-6, folks. I know, I know, the kind of people praying at public meetings aren't the type of person to do their research but... do it anyway!

Ohio Christian Fascists Republican senators have passed a bill that would allow and put a display of the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms. This is just one of the recent pieces of legislation that would add more Christianity to the education system

Nothing.

As an apathetic agnostic, I don't know of any power higher than humanity. I would make the promise to uphold duty to the office and that should be good enough.

The others' use of some "holy" book is meaningless to me. I don't mind if they use their old traditional ways, but it doesn't make them any more trustworthy.
