Week 4: Wearable Mock-Up
This week i hardly knitted anything but i continued sewing on the mock-up for my jacket. I only make wearable mock-ups from similiar fabric, because i think a toilé from cotton canvas doesn´t reflect the drape or stiffness (depends what you are making) of most fabrics. It is great to draw onto it or to manipulate it, but i prefer the drafting method over the draping method (most of the times).
I made the jacket from bigger leftovers of boiled wool (in german we call it Walk, which is similiar to Loden, but not exactly the same). I hadn´t enough of one colour, so i decided to make the collar, which is a variation of a stand-up collar, dark red and the body and sleeves dark brown. The front of the jacket is asymmetrical and is closed with a zipper. But a button closure is also possible. I hadn´t the perfect zipper, so i used what i had, which was a shorter one than i planned. So i had to add a button for the rounded corner of the collar.
At the moment i´m working on the pockets and tomorrow i will cut out the lining (also some old stuff i had in my stash). What i´m really happy about, is the fact that i had to change only minor things, so i´m quite pleased with the pattern so far.
Here it is without pockets. And this is one of the pockets without its lining. And that´s it for this week. Days go by so fast…
Hope you had a nice past week and have a even nicer one coming.
Thanks for reading, till next time!
