More from my Debonair #toycamera, Lomochrome Metropolis. Looks like histogram stretching does a good job preserving the unique color of this film. Light leaks are from my stupid mistake: I tried to attach the second roll of 120 film onto the tape of the first roll, and turns out I failed to load the second roll. It was still in the dark bag after I opened it to take the Paterson tank out to develop the first roll. Anyway, light leaks go well with the lomo vibe. #shittycamerachallenge #lightleak #subwaystation #lomography #lofi #filmphotography #analogphotography #believeinfilm #darktable #streetphotography #nyc

Since Harman Phoenix 200 has high contrast, then why not use it to enhance contrast of a low contrast scene? It worked. I did histogram stretching in #darktable and did not adjust contrast. #filmphotography #analogphotography #believeinfilm #streetphotography #shittycamerachallenge #toycamera #nyc

Harman Phoenix 200 (the first version with orange box), shot with Debonair #toycamera. Everything I read about this film is true. It has high contrast, high saturation, low dynamic range, halation, funky colors, and high grain. So much grain that I can readily see them in the scans of 120 film. Looks like it does something funky in underexposed areas which goes well with the Debonair lofi vibe. Harman Phoenix's official datasheet says it's a pain in the ass to scan this film and it's 100% true. #shittycamerachallenge #filmphotography #streetphotography #analogphotography #believeinfilm #mediumformat #120film #darktable #lomography #lofi #nyc #grainisgood

Kodak DC120 (0.83MP, 1996)

This camera is such a pain and such a pleasure! It shoots in a proprietary image format (.KDC files) that I first have to convert to BMP files of all things with 30-year old software from Kodak (I run it on Windows 98).

I have just completed my BW film development kit, and this is the first roll I developed, from my Debonair #toycamera. Film: Kentmere Pan 200. Developer: Arista D76. Most photos here were taken at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. I won't be too sad if I screw up and lose this roll. Developing film is way easier than I thought, 10x easier than staining microscopy slides which I used to do as an undergrad. However, scanning is 10x harder than I thought. No wonder most labs separately charge for scanning and Photo Life often screws up the scan. No wonder dedicated film scanners are so expensive. How I scanned: I have a 2009 inkjet printer that comes with a scanner. It can't scan at high enough a resolution though for now it's good enough for Debonair. Next time I'll use the digital camera method. #believeinfilm #shittycamerachallenge #filmphotography #analogphotography #ishootfilm #lomography #lofi #snow #winter #nyc #lightleak
