@schenklklopfer @Jay16K ja, #ATX12VO ist ne Effizienzfrage weil quasi keine Komponenten mehr 3,3V brauchen und es energieeffizienter ist lokal sowas wie 5V (USB) mit nem Downconverter von 12V runterzupacken, weil geringe Spannungen hohe Verluste haben.

• Ursprünglich sollten die Netzteile direkt die CPU-Kernspannung liefern aber nicht nur sind wir fast 50 Jahre weg von 5V bzw. 40 Jahre von 3,3V sondern es ist auch nicht wirklich praktikabel angesichts #SolidCaps & #MOSFET|s…

@JessTheUnstill @wdjorth @GreenRoc Whilst some stuff can be designed to be fixable, what really grinds my gear when it's deliberately NOT done for no valid reason.

• There is *no valid excuse for #SolderedDownRAM & #SolderedDownSSD|s on anything that is bigger than a #Pi0W - and even then I'd argue there's no reason to not use socketed #eMMC over proprietary soldered-down chips.

Good #SolidCaps practically don't blow up, but cheap crap does...

@BestGirlGrace Espechally once you #recap a board with #SolidCaps and enshure your #MOSFET|s are well-cooled and veltilated...

Also remember to use some long-term durable thermal paste like #Arctic #MX4 or #MX6 and #repaste that machine every 5 years...

Espechally with #GameConsoles that'll really make them run cooler and quieter because most use the cheapest thermal grease they can get away with at launch...
