The one big disadvantage with #NewPipe in comparison to YouTube in browser is that NewPipe doesn't support #Sponsorblock. So effectively I use NewPipe for stuff like music, but most other videos I prefer watching in browser, even mobile.

Here's an idea, a tool that cuts/removes redundant parts of TV shows. Think #Sponsorblock but for #Plex and #Jellyfin. Even when there aren't any ads, you can see that some TV show montages are build around advertisement segments.

- No ads
- You can choose to use #Youtube or #Invidious as the backend
- You can 'subscribe' to channels without a #Google account
- You can enable the #SponsorBlock add-on to skip sponsored segments
- You can enable the #DeArrow add-on to remove click-baity thumbnails and titles
A lot of this you can do in the browser, but I find FreeTube more stable than Invidious and the ad-blocking better than #uBlockOrigin.

this time my home feed is only showing news channels I've never watched before instead of my youtube recommendations and now some videos in my subscription feed are appearing twice
i'm obligated to mention that the headlining feature of Grayjay, namely to follow creators across platforms, has never worked for me, even for the singular creator whom I've seen enable the feature, namely, the one who created the fucking app
i'd already been slowly switching to Tubular (a #NewPipe fork with #SponsorBlock) even before this since Grayjay noticeably drops frames at higher playback speeds and Tubular doesn't (i suspect grayjay not supporting hardware acceleration is the culprit) but i genuinely might uninstall grayjay after this. i'm disappointed. i wanted to like this project.
And here I come again with another post. Maybe you can sympathise with me, when I use the internet without proper protections, it feels like walking in the streets of Brazil, one step away from a murder attempt or someone trying to scam you on some bullshit, got interested?

Maybe, there should be a new #browserExtension like #SponsorBlock, #DeArrow, #CaptainFact, and #tournesol, to which people can upload their videos without #AI filters if they are affected by #YouTube's AI filters. Projects like #Piped and #Invidious could natively support this and directly play the non-AI impacted videos.
