I am grateful for the wonderful response I got from the call centre when I rang Horizons Regional Council today and told them about the latest damage to the river bank. I was even thanked for ringing 🤩

I really hope they can find a solution that will last longer than the last one has... work was only done here within the last 3-4 months... 😵‍💫

They show some work done by the regional council to try and stop erosion of the river bank where I walk. The lower photo shows a new slip which is the result of the latest deluge of rain...

Saturday morning and the sun is reflected off the river and shines through the low and heavy clouds. The sun helps other colours pop such as the blues along the ranges and the greens in the trees near the water.

Sky is a 7 year old staffy collie cross dog and she is walking on the sealed riverside path.

Sunday morning, how much rain have we had!?

The river is very brown and muddy this morning. It is high and wide. The bare willow trees on the far bank still manage to glow orange even in the low light.
Answer - lots, but clearly upriver they had more. Lots of large logs and trees are floating down the river and tonight the council are on standby to open the flood gates...
