Hoy vamos con algo de historia con un sello de la República de Burundi de 1970. Aparece Michael Micombero, presidente de la república durante 10 años entre los cuales se cometió un genocidio contra la etnia hutu por un levantamiento que se reprimió duramente. También, en el sello, Adèle Nzeyimana.
Hace unos años se presentaron informes sobre dicho genocidio. ¿Qué hizo el partido responsable en los años 70 cincuenta años después? Sorpresa, no reconocer los actos e intentar lavarse las manos. Ah, y también decir que ellos también fueron víctimas.
Quizá, si revisáramos la historia más allá de occidente hubiésemos aprendido más. No sé. Desde luego es una asignatura pendiente.

Ya que hemos compartido nuestro primer sello de flora vamos a hacerlo también sobre #insectos y qué mejor que con un impresionante escarabajo rinoceronte (Oryctes nasicornis).
Estamos ante un sello de Bulgaria emitido un 26 de agosto de 1968.

A pesar de su cuerno, presente solo en los machos, el escarabajo rinoceronte es totalmente inofensivo, ni pica ni es venenoso. Se alimenta de materia orgánica y raíces y al igual que tantos insectos ayuda a que las plantas tengan alimento necesario. Hay que cuidarlos.

Hoy, en #Feditelia, vamos a colarnos en #Caturday con un sello emitido en 1968 por parte de la República Federal Alemana. Está dedicado a los gatos salvajes (Felis silvestris) dentro de una serie dedicada a animales en peligro.
El diseño vino de la mano de Paul Froitzheim pero por ahora no hemos encontrado más datos sobre su persona.

En España algunos estudios destacan que una de las amenazas al gato montés es la hibridación con el gato doméstico, otro motivo para dejar a los gatetes hogareños en sus casas, porque el efecto en la fauna salvaje va más allá de lo que pensamos.

I am sorting out stamps. I have so many of all the same #stamp and I don't know what to do with them all.

They are super common and I've sorted all the ones with call cancellation marks and "perfins"*

Vast majority are still on white card.

I want to make art but Idk what to make. They are mostly purple red and black. Thinking about making abstract or pixel art type thing.

How cool!! This stamp common tho' it may be to find and collect has this unique mark upon it.

1st of April 1948 was when this was cancelled. Someone obviously did not have a cancellation stamp on them at the the time as they have decided to just write the date on the stamp which is so so cool.

Ways of cancelling stamps, so they can not be used again, have been around since stamps have existed. This stamp has been literally written on in pen and I do not know why.

A #stamp from Malta. Produced during the reign of the King George VI who reigned till 1952.

This stamp is from 1938-1943 (so a pretty short era) it was cancelled in a post office in the capital of Malta Valletta in (I believe from reading the cancel) the 13th of july in 1939?

I find it so wierd the cancel stamp includes the time. "830AM" has to be the time right?

For context I brought a "lot" of stamps online for £12 and it came in a big ol' card board box. It said 3000+ and it feels like a lot more...

Most of what was in the box was bags of the same (ish) series. I have tons of machin stamps and butterflies and animals and just odd amounts of random ass countries.

Went through a big bag of stamps today. All are from Malaysia, and Malaya (which I still am not 100% sure are -now- independent countries) and Singapore (some of which occassionally say Malaysia Singapore on, and confuse me.)

Oh and Malta... so many Malta ones.

One of (the four) #stamp albums I got from my grandma. She brought ages ago second-hand. It's got some cool penny reds that I need to research (same century as penny blacks, but not really worth anywhere near).

1980s stamp expo first issues. And first day issues of the QEII's mother's 80th birthday.

Also has a complete set of 1981 christmas stamps drawn by school kids... apart from that nothing much.
