El ave está volando con las alas totalmente extendidas y la foto está hecha desde abajo. Arriba un cielo azul sin nubes. Es de colora blanco absolutamente aunque por efecto del sol tiene un tono amarillo verdoso. Las pata estiradas hacia atrás le sobresalen de la cola y son fuertes y de color negro. El pico es de color negro, muy largo y se abre y aplana al final dándole ese aspecto de pala o espátula que le da el nombre.

Progress for my OC, the left with fiery wing and red armor is Rura. My plan was, she will be beastfolk type character, half human & half bird, a Phoenix type mythical bird.
While the right with blue & yellow wings and tail is Kaina. She was going to be Thunderbird mythical bird, so I chose blue, yellow, with her wearing white armor.

Brownish, mid-sized swift with powerful, direct flight. The wings are uniform, without significantly contrasting paler patches on the inside of the wings. Nest in caves and crevices, but can be seen in flight over many habitats, especially dry, montane areas. The call is a moderately-pitched descending trill. Very similar to Pallid and Common Swift, and separation is difficult in times and places where they overlap. Slightly darker than Pallid Swift and paler than Common Swift, with subtly different vocalizations. Also similar to African and Nyanza Swifts, but can be separated by the uniform wings without contrastingly pale panels at the base.

In the same tree as the Frogmouths, I also spied this female Paradise Riflebird, busily breaking bark off the tree to hunt for grubs and bugs.

A striking bird in shades of brown and russet with a long curved beak. She has a faun chest and belly, with the belly having brown horizontal stripes. Her head and back are a medium brown, but she has a faun stripe through her eye. The leading edge of her wings are russet.

The riflebird, mid-hop high in the tree. She has her wings folded and appears to be levitating above the branch.

Both Tawny Frogmouths were back in the same dead tree today when I went down to check the mail.
I wandered around the other side to get a better view of both of them together.

A pair of grey mottled owl-sized (but not owls) birds perched in a dead tree. Their feather colour and pattern blends in well with the dead wood and bark.

They have short but stout beaks that curve slightly towards the tip. They also have feathers that stick up above the beak such that when perched with their head up (as pictured) they appear to look like broken branches (from a distance).
