As with so many series, Preacher wanders and repeats its plot-level tropes too often, but its ambition, audacity, and trio of protagonists largely compensates

"Art of Steve Dillon Apex Edition" from @2000AD is another perfect reproduction. Another huge monster of a book. It features work from Rogue Trooper, Harlem Heroes and A.B.C. Warriors but I'm here for the Dredd artwork. That double page artwork from Block Wars, Orlok poisoning the Mega City One water supplies, the angles, the composition, it's perfect

This will contain so many memories. I remember seeing Steve start drawing that classic werewolf Dredd strip the night before we all crashed to go and get some kip upstairs. When we came down in the morning he'd finished the whole thing.

Judge Dredd and Sargeant Joyce stand back-to-back. Dredd holds up a futuristic weapon while Joyce raises a glass of Guinness.Caption:
"Downtown Murphyville, Emerald Isle. Judge Dredd and Joyce are on the trail of a gang of killers..."

Sargeant Joyce points to the Green Dolphin Pub and says to Dredd, "This is a likely place, Dredd. Lots o' Sons of Erin fellas drink here an' we'll maybe hear a whisper..."

Dredd replies, "That's what you said about the last three bars, Joyce."

Bartender Patrick greets Joyce with, "Sargeant Joyce! How are you?" Joyce replies, "Not so bad, Patrick. Pint of the usual, and..." Looking at Dredd and seeing his sour expression he continues, "Uh...Just the pint, Patrick. So tell us then...Been much oui' blather about the ambassador gettin' killed?" Patrick says, "Ambass..? Oh, no. Nothin'. Why you askin', anyway?"

Joyce says, "Well now, Patrick, you know how it is...What with this place bein' a watering hole for all kinds o' lunatics, we thought maybe you'd have heard something..?" Patrick replies, "What d'ye mean, Sargeant?"

Walking away, Joyce says to Dredd, "He's a slippery one, oui' Patrick. But he'll maybe let something slip, like..." Dredd says, "Yeah. Well, you see what you can get out of him...Those three punks at the window table have been watching us since we came in. They're scared. Let's find out what the problem is..."
