Dieses grandiose Schlusswort aus dem Battery Interview ist bei mir hängen geblieben. Ich wußte auch gar nicht, dass die wieder aktiv sind. Aber dafür gibt es ja das Ox, dessen Ausgabe 183 wie immer sehr abwechslungsreich ist. Große Stärke des Heftes bleibt, in den Interviews regelmässig in die Tiefe zu gehen und damit aus subkultureller Sicht gesamtgesellschaftliche Phänomene zu beleuchten. Bspw. im Gespräch mit Billy Childish:
"Seit man das Internet hat und alles möglich ist, kann man innerhalb von zehn Minuten zum Experten von Garage-Musik werden: Einfach online gehen und reinhören und schon weißt du, welche Bands zählen, welche man auf seine Liste setzen sollte. Und dann hakt man es ab und macht mit dem nächten Thema weiter. Es gibt keine Kohärenz und keinen Antrieb oder Imperativ mehr, finde ich. Was in gewisser Weise ziemlich befreiend sein kann, aber auch bedeutet, dass nichts mehr eine Zugkraft hat."

De legendarische hardcoreband Morning Again (US) komt 9 april 2026 voor een exclusieve NL show naar Bibelot. Ontstaan in de jaren ’90 in Florida, groeide de band razendsnel uit tot een van de meest invloedrijke namen binnen de metallic hardcore-scene. Met hun intense live-optredens, ongenadig strakke riffs en maatschappijkritische teksten (straight edge, vegan, anti-religieus, anti-overheid) hebben ze wereldwijd een trouwe fanbase.

Een crossover-hardcoreband uit de Belgische Kempen heeft al meerdere releases op hun naam en trad door heel Europa op. Op 23 mei brengen ze een nieuwe split uit met de Britse band Devils Grip en ze zijn binnenkort te zien op grote festivals zoals Antwerp Metal Fest, Return to Strength (Duitsland) en Superbowl of Hardcore (Frankrijk).
Provisional is een internationale band, met leden uit Argentinië, Portugal en Nederland, gevestigd in Rotterdam. De band creëert een muzikale wervelwind beïnvloed door verscheidene metal en hardcore genres. Zware riffs, behendige drums en emotioneel geladen vocalen gegarandeerd.

You can find this yourself if you really must subject yourself to the aural atrocity. It's the sort of uninspired dog shit one would expect from this end of the spectrum, nothing ventured and nothing iterated upon in the least; hell, even the Rival Mob (my least favorite hardcore bsnd of all time until 10am today) had the good sense to rip off decent bands while hating AIDS patients, and the FUs wrote a magnum opus while fucking the flag raw. 7/7
At the end of the day though, I think these people are dumb Indiana hicks too inert to have ever left their hovel, too stupid to conceive of a reality beyond their own, too scared to confront the reality that perpetuates addiction, and so fortunate to only have experienced their carefully constructed fantasy of violence. 6/
I broke edge 9 years ago this September. I have no regrets. Straight edge made me a better person, but not better than anyone else. It allowed me structure and control in a complicated world. I don't really think you can separate the reality we've been in since 2016, (since 2001, since 1964, since 1865, since 1776, etc.) from this careening, reactionary train of thought. The mainstream has tossed out all pretense to civility and resistance, and the underground, for all its vaunted ideals, follows suit. 3/
