I headed out later than normal but enjoyed the run. Picture is of a doe and her fawn quite annoyed with me for chasing them off the trail. I tried to apologize but she wasn’t having it.

Tonight’s base run finally felt “easy”. I’m attributing it to a small change in gait and dramatically lower temps and no humidity (8:17/km).

I haven’t been sedentary, I’ve been running. Still building a base and my mileage for the half marathon in October. I hope to drive to Grand Rapids on Saturday to run with people. #Running #Garmin #StrongerThanMyExcuses #MichiganRunning #RaederleRuns

I’ve abbreviated the stats in the second image alt text. If you are visually impaired and would like the stats typed out for you, please reply and I’ll happily share in a reply. My app crashes due to too much text in the description when I try.

☔️ Running in the rain, I’m running in the rain 🎶

It only gets longer from here, Oct 20 here I come. I love long run nights. (conversion: 8:41/km). If I flipped mile one and two, I’d have had negative splits.

I’m going to struggle with tempo and slow pace runs but I want to actually do the work for this one so I’ll endure the not-long-runs so I can get to the long ones. #halfmarathontraining #Running #RailsToTrails #Garmin #StrongerThanMyExcuses #MichiganRunning

Annual 5K celebrating trout 🎣 about 30 miles from home. I’m fairly pleased considering the 2 hills here are bigger than I can train for and I’ve had 3 weeks off due to travel.

I love Monday night runs. I can’t even explain how much. I found my stride around 1.5 and just cruised, zero walk but I did douse myself with water while running. I ran the Bruno route tonight. I was sad when Bruno the bull mastiff wasn’t at the west end of his yard. But, at the very last fenced bit of his yard, he spotted me and let me know how big and tough he is. Someday we will be friends but today was not that day.

I need a running buddy every May as I struggle to run. I pay for the lack of running when I have to slowly build up my miles in June. I’d like to be able to run a half marathon this fall but that’s going to take consistency that to date, I haven’t given myself.

I’m fairly pleased that I shaved about 30 sec per mile tonight and only almost have up at mile 1.5.
The photo doesn’t do the view justice, wish you were here.

Living in small town USA is difficult at times. I almost didn’t run after work but needed to let go of work. As I finished my run, I needed to cross the main street through town, which isn’t actually Main St. I heard a car so I stopped my watch, waited for the car, and walked across the street. The ladies in the car gave me the biggest cheer as they passed, so sweet as I’m old enough to be their mom and a bit mom-shaped.

This was my first time doing the Cheetah Chase. It’s a fundraiser for zoo that is a couple of hours away. It was so much fun to see the animals while we ran. The dingos were so intrigued by all the people zooming by them. I walked a bit starting in mile 2 as the elevation and mixed road/trail was difficult for me. Still pleased with my efforts even if Garmin upped my max heart rate again. Temp was 77°F (25°C) at 8AM.

Speed Repeats were not the best option tonight. I gambled there would be more shade than there was. Heart rate stayed around 170 during run interval so walked on the rest interval. Not my best time but certainly my best effort.

Rails to trails was in full bloom. The grass and daisies didn’t have enough contrast for Garmin text. I’d love it if I could shadow text rather than resorting image editing software.

Kiddo let me know he would be with aunts, uncles, and cousins after I left work, so I opted for a run. I planned for 3-4 miles but when he texted 2 miles in that he was headed to dinner with them.
It’s been an emotional couple of days with all of us cleaning at my late MIL’s house.

Heart rate is a struggle. Before March, 160bpm meant 11:30-12:30/mile. Now 160bpm means 14-15 minute miles. Thankful I can run.

“Quick” run before my son’s spring band concert. I wore enough of the tread off my favorite pair of running shoes to warrant replacing them. The tread honestly didn’t look awful until I compared it to the new pair. Apparently, I sometimes drag/scuff the ball of my foot. (6.63 km distance, 8 min 20 sec per km pace if my math didn’t go awry)

Fantastic evening for a nice slow run on the rails to trails. The birds were singing. The breeze was cool and steady. Both sides of the trail are blanketed with beautiful white trillium. No trillium were touched on my run, only admired.

Last night’s run this morning because I forgot to post. I dogged raindrops for a bit. Fantastic low heart rate run which always turns into spiked heart rate even though pace remains steady. See alt for km
I made eyes at an absolutely adorable black lab pup. He’s probably close to a year old and has been working hard at ignoring people using the trail. It’s so difficult to ignore him so he can learn how to be a proper puppy.

Ran hiking trail and paved today. The hiking trails are finally dried out enough that I felt comfortable trying them out. I wish these trails were longer as they are more convenient than the longer trails. Even running some sections twice, it’s about a mile work of hiking trail. (Distance 11km, pace 9 min 34 sec per km if I did my math properly)

Due to kiddo commitments, it’s been a minute since I made time to run. On this run, I met two bull mastiffs, one named Bruno and the other seemed to have the nickname of old man as he was struggling to race his yard to run as I ran by. I appreciated their people reassuring me they were big babies. 8.09 KM distance 8 min 40 second per KM pace (hope I did the conversion properly)

I participated in my first group run that wasn’t a race. I ended up keeping pace with another runner. It was fun to have someone to chat with. I ran, other runner did intervals but worked to catch up to me. I love that our pace worked out. Running with someone else keeping pace motivated me to push myself when I might have pulled back a bit.

I am not good at slowest running. Tonight, I tried for a lower heart rate. I would have been happiest with zone 3 but since mostly stayed out of zone 5, I’m calling this a win. This picture doesn’t do this patch of moss/litchen justice. Even in the dull brown season it’s beautiful. By the time the season is deep green, the trees will be in bloom and photos will be so difficult to show it any better.
