Just caught up on the posting, ah 1995 must have been when I started losing connection with the UK music chart and didn't have an alternative other than to head back in time.

Wasn't a Britpop kid, was never into the boy bands other than the odd tune, and the incoming Hip Hop/RnB, very much felt like a musical outcast.

Local MW radio and ultimately Radio 2 filled the gap till I could put my entire collection of music in the car and I wasn't a big TV watcher at the time. At least Radio 2 could introduce me to some new music and some absolute cracking tunes you wouldn't hear otherwise, like the long players on Drive Time, loved those.

I don't know where to put that.

#totp I am now, over 30 years later, reassessing everything I ever read in music magazines about Madonna. She was good on her own terms all along.

#totp I've never noticed how weird and interesting the rhythmic structure of Fairground by Simply Red is. My main memory of that song was being drunk, chatted up by a noncey guy running the waltzers who played it on repeat, and my friend and I laughing about that song as a sort of personal meme.

#totp I've seen a lot of people talking about how good the '90s were, and a lot of people had a lovely time then. For me, it was terrible. Been watching 1995 totp and narrating the related horrors to my cat, and telling her that life does get so much better when you get older. It really does.

I just downloaded the 1977 episode to rewatch that Egyptian Reggae track with Legs & Co in a camel costume with a dancing snake. My other half didn't quite believe me when I described it!

Did anyone notice the camel was wearing a fez?!

Tenth week (second season) of simulposting #TOTP on Bluesky and Mastodon: a bit slow because I missed some people and some songs were shitty, but I had a good time. People loved my drama posts about Kid Jensen and the lore drop about uncles John and Tommy. One day, I'll post everything on my blog.

Well pop picker-aparters that was middling. 77 and 84 were a bit disappointing. 95 isn't really my #TOTP era but apart from three doses of the nonce and the fake singing squaddies I quite enjoyed the Xmas special. Especially Bjork.
