Public libraries are awesome! I just took a Toronto Public Library intro to 3D printing course from the comfort of my bed in 6 minutes. (I meant to do it when they first brought in 3D printers years ago, but the in person classes back then kept getting booked up in seconds)

Also, I was looking up models on Thingiverse and laughed at this miniature 3D print of a 3D printer: thingiverse.com/thing:630132

Heads up if you take the Toronto Public Library "Google AI" course: all Google interactions now have Gemini wedged into them. You have to manually turn that shite off for each service

I don’t know about you, but I’m putting in my calendar for Sundays “Read at the library” since TPL is about to open all branches year-round on that day of the week. thestar.com/news/gta/city-hall

Somebody please archive the Toronto Public Library blogs (multiple) that are hosted on TypePad now that the service is shutting down. torontopubliclibrary.typepad.c

Just finished a self published book, "Minnow Trap", by Brian Horeck. This book is advertised on a number of roadside signs between Sudbury and Sault Ste Marie on Hwy 17. The characters fit stereotypes, the term "cold ones" for beer is probably mentioned 20 times, but it was readable and I enjoyed it. sudbury.com/lifestyle/did-you-

It wasn't available from the , and I was wondering if the library could do more to make self published authors more visible?

... The librarian asked if she'd like to borrow a lock. "You lend out bike locks?" "No, but I have two on my bike." And the librarian went to get the lock.

From Michael Winter at the West End Phoenix:

Let it be known... That a woman pushed the automatic door opener and carried her bike into the library, then left it propped against the chute for book returns. She went to the counter and asked if she could bring her bike in further. "I've forgotten my lock." ...

The Toronto Public Library website is still having issues. I can’t log on to see the digital materials I’ve borrowed.

Is anyone else having this same issue?

The Toronto Public Library started a Photoshop challenge (they meant generative AI challenge, but they ain’t know it) to create “Buy Canadian” posters from old wartime posters. reddit.com/r/toronto/comments/

I am happily scrolling through the new book list for the Toronto Public Library to see what treasures I can find tonight.

tpl – lesend ins neue Jahr

Lesedauer < 1 Minute

"All the best for a cozy holiday season from everyone at Toronto Public Library.

This beautiful scarf was crafted by Christine, a librarian who contributes her talents to the Keep Calm and Carry Yarn circle at Toronto Reference Library. We offer knit and crochet circles citywide, where crafters of all experience levels can bond over patterns, tips and friendship."

Close-up of a person in a hand-knit ivory sweater, sitting in a cozy red arm chair, knitting a sky blue scarf. We do not see thwir head or feet.

40cm of the scarf is already knit, it is draped over their knees, displaying the logo of our library in white, knit into it: "tpl:"
