One slightly broken G1 Snarl and one VERY broken G1 Snarl. After a quick operation this morning I now have 1 good G1 Snarl~

If I give him to a child (as opposed to keeping him myself) I'll have to reinforce the stitching on his dungarees as they're a bit fragile.

4/? The little dog I rescued from the vlei (see previous posts) now has a knitted scarf and a pair of denim shorts. I'm planning to turn the shorts into dungarees, am making a bib front and back. I want to add nice brass buttons too, but if he's ever a real child's toy that might be a problem so I might hold off on that.

(Writing "nice brass buttons" means I now have that sentence from The Hobbit echoing in my head - "...while bewildered goblins were still picking up his nice brass buttons on the doorstep.")

I might make a little shirt for him to go under the dungarees. Will see how that goes.

I have a cold today so it's nice to have a comforting project to keep me busy while I wait for Mr Zumbador to come home with the extra hot Tom Yum soup that's the only thing that really makes me feel better when I'm sick.

Mr Zumbador rescued another small toy from the estuary. A little dragon.

It cleaned up so nicely! He made it a little high vis vest to hide the stains he couldn't completely remove, and the cigarette burn that's still visible even after being sewn up.

It might become a mascot for the girls' hostel at his school 🙂

Toy dog rescue progress: He's clean and dry, and I replaced all his stuffing. His belly is now full of flax seed so he has a nice heft to him.

I also started knitting him a stripy scarf.

Update... I *might* be able to fix it with the right application of superglue. It'll be more complicated than what I've done in the past, but it is possible.

Further adventures of the stuffed toy dog I rescued from a watery situation in the vlei.

He soaked overnight in soapy water, but still needed some cleaning this morning, he had sand in his hands and feet. Then he went for a proper wash in a clothes washer, spin dried in a cold centrifuge, and was pegged up among the rest of the laundry.

He's dry now, and tucked into my hoodie, keeping me company. He has no stuffing so he looks ridiculous and floppy, and there are a couple of holes that need stitching.

Inspired by Mr Zumbador's truck restoration, I did a toy rescue of my own this morning. I'd seen this little stuffed toy dog lying submerged at the edge of the vlei yesterday, among the flotsam from the recent storm.

The water had receded enough this morning for me to retrieve it, and empty the truly astounding amount of stinking sand from its belly.

It rode home in my bicycle's front basket, and after a more thorough emptying of sand from all its extremities (it must have been in the water for a while for the sand to have worked its way in everywhere) its now having a good long soak in clean water.

I think the original toy was a kind of hot water bottle, as its tummy is a hollow pocket where, I think, the warm bottle or bag would go. The vlei sand is remarkably stinky so I had to take out every single bit of stuffing. So this is now a very limp and flat little guy.

Next on its schedule is a soapy bath.
