A screwdriver 🪛 and a bit of super glue to reattach a tingly little tooth on a button, and this car phone holder works again. Let's see how long, since the design's weakness has now been discovered...

The control board in our 20-year old oven died, and, of course, it’s no longer available. I found UpFix.com, and decided to give them a try. They repair boards of all kinds in appliances, autos, exercise equipment, and others. It was a seamless experience the whole way through. I popped it back into the oven today, and .. it works!!

Very reasonable price! Highly recommended!

I got a #segamastersystem recently. It works but does this weird rolling color thing with the backgrounds (sprites are fine). It only does this on the composite output. The RF modulator looks ok. Any SMS experts have any ideas?

I have done a full recap with no change in this behavior.

I was thinking this morning, there should be more things like Goodwill, more thrift stores like that everywhere, for even LESS things going to landfills. Just people getting together, even as a trade or barter system, things like flea markets or garage sales-- people do some of this already.

Reusing things is so important, and repair, when possible-- I've been seeing some cool self-repair fix-it meetups on here, too.

As I was talking to my wife about it, and I remembered this screenshot (I think about it a lot) that's attached below, that I saved from a Wired piece (right after the death of Twitter: archive.ph/YSCR9) about billionaires not knowing how to 'monetize' smaller groups of happier people, as we keep our tech, some try to fix their own stuff, etc. About how it's not enough to 'build a town square' on. Which is hilarious and ironic.

Billionaires don't give a FUCK about creating a 'town square'. They don't care about people, about us, about the rest of the 99%. They want to extract value until they can't, at whatever cost.

So reuse, keep things, fix things, as much as possible. That's the way of the future. Not these fuckin billionaires and their shitty corporations.

#repair #SelfRepair #RightToRepair #reuse #FixIt #DIY #DIYRepair #thrift #ThriftStores #FuckBillionaires

Snip from Wired piece that says 'how will these smaller groups of happier people be monetized? This is a tough question for the billionaires. Happy people, the kind who eat sandwiches together, are boring. They don't buy much. Their smartphones are six versions behind and have badly cracked screens. They fix bicycles, then talk about fixing bicycles, then they show their friend, who just came over for no reason, how they fixed their bicycle, and their friend says, 'Wow, good job," and they make tea. That doesn't seem like enough to build a town square on.

Web dependencies are broken. Can we fix them?

Dear JS ecosystem, I love you, but you have a dependency management problem when it comes to the Web, and the time has come for an intervention.
