Introduced in 1932, this was the first traffic light system controlled by the traffic itself. This was one of only two surviving Electro-matic boxes I've come across in Glasgow, with the other one being of a different (and possibly later) design.
Boxes like this might not be as eye-catching as some of the other things I post, but they are none-the-less a part of the city's heritage.

For the 3rd time in a row I participated today with the initiative 'Straatvinken' where citizens of Flanders (Belgium) count the traffic in their street for 1 hour. The counting is divided into subgroups like pedestrians, cyclists, cars, trucks...
It's interesting to compare the data afterwards with the previous years and to analyse in general how the proportions are between all these groups.
