With extra time off on #Sunday today I took a walk in a neck of the city woods I had never been to. On a path in a dense part of the woods a long thick branch lies such that it is blocking the easy way forward. The close end of the now dead trunk points to near the camera position, the end in the bushes, while the far end sits next to the tree it fell down from, several metres high up. It looks kind of fresh, as if the split has just been several days ago. The sky visible is pale and overcast.

An old tree trunk lies flat on a slighty parched meadow. The log is about large human sized but much thicker, from an old tree and visibly withered. It lies left to right without direct sunshine on it int he foreground, while in mid distance the wide open meadow is visibly basked in sunlight. A tree without branches, dead for a long while, full of big woodpecker holes, in the middle of a wooded area. On the ground, snow mixed with pieces of bark.

This pic of one of my forest friends doesn't do it justice. She's a towering monster that would take at least two people to touch hands in a hug.

Based on the scars, she's most likely seen some sh!t in her time and will most likely outlast us all.
