🎴 Brussels Vortex is a choice-based interactive fiction game.
It starts on the Grand-Place. A flash of light, a sound like thunder… and you're in 1927.
What happened? And more importantly: how do you get back?

A hand holds a smartphone in front of the Grand-Place in Brussels. On the phone screen, a scene from the game Brussels Vortex shows a woman in 1920s attire, with the same square in black and white behind her. The game text reads: “Grand-Place. The flower seller is still trembling with emotion...” The real-life square is bustling with tourists and an old-style vehicle.

god I hate Twine games *so* much

every time I find one that looks interesting I spend 1/3rd of the playtime just fighting the UI

"you can build your own UI in Twine it's as customizable as you want!" okay make the default UI suck less because most people aren't going to do that

there's no keyboard shortcuts, you have to use the mouse for basically everything, the save menu is insanely unintuitive, you can't even name your savegames...

I just spent probably entirely too much time figuring out how to make traveling from location to location in the first "free play" chapter of my twine game work.

Fully 1/5 of that time was spent hunting down a problem that was literally: "I used a period instead of an underscore."

At least I'm now confident that I can actually release a new version in the next couple of days. Also, I won't have to rewrite a bunch of passages to implement random events that occur when the player is traveling from place to place since that all exists in one passage now.

Next on the list: Said random events and NPC conversations that aren't a gazillion nested ifs.

screenshot of my Twine WIP!!! I'll be making an introduction post when I actually have some playable content up on Itch.io (I don't see the point in trying to get ppl interested in it before there's a game for them to actually play at least somewhat) but for now have this screenshot of the UI

ID: a screenshot of a Twine game titled The Last Time I Died. The passage text is on a slightly transparent box over a space background, and the header and footer are dark blue gradients. The footer has back and next buttons. The header has a symbol to indicate that it can expand if clicked, as well as the title, a skull and crossbones icon, social media buttons/icons, and the settings, restart, save, and fullscreen buttons.

The current passage has a heading that reads "Introduction", and the text below it reads, "Thank you so much for choosing to play The Last Time I Died! Before you start, please make sure you have chosen your pronouns in the settings menu (it takes a passage or so to update) and adjusted any other settings you need to change.

SAVE WARNING: This is a browser-based game and saves to your browser. If your browser clears its cache or history, your saves will be lost. You can make unlimited saves independently of your browser by saving with Save to Disk. These are stored on your device and can be uploaded directly into the game. It is highly recommended that you make a manual save to your device regularly, especially if you are playing on iOS or MacOS.

CONTENT WARNING: Explicit language, discussion of physical/sexual/emotional abuse, depictions of blood and gore, discussion of self-harm and suicide, and drug and alcohol use."

There's more of this passage, but it is cut off by the footer, as the person taking the screenshot did not scroll all the way down.

Currently trying to get my #Twine #InteractiveFiction game to the point where it's been outlined and there's at least a bit available to play on Itch.io, also working on implementing a codex! I'll post some screenshots here later :D

Does anyone have #ChoiceOfGames, #HostedGames, or #ChoiceScript game recs? #TwineGames are ok too but only ones with no graphics, music, or left frame please.

My past faves are the #FallenHero series, #180Files, #TheExile, and #AMageReborn series among others.

Here's a text adventure "game" I wrote a few years back. It's called CASTLE DOOMENSTEIN and it's pretty silly. Made in .

You can play it here for the low low cost of free: radvon.com/castle/castle.html

Castle Doomenstein game title screen.

I guess I'll post a few tags, even if they reveal me to be the lamest person on the instance.

(I'm so sorry)
