On February 5, 2003, Colin Powell stood before the UN Security Council with maps, photos, and intercepted communications, declaring these were "facts and conclusions based on solid intelligence" proving Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program. Six weeks later, the Iraq invasion began based on this testimony. No WMDs were ever found, and Powell later admitted his speech was a "great intelligence failure" and permanent "blot" on his record. Twenty-two years later, Israel deploys strikingly similar rhetoric about Iran's "nuclear threat" to justify its strikes - same manufactured urgency, same unverified claims, same predictable script for war.
