Does #vcvRack now finally have a decent #VCF module available? Is the #Doepfer #Wasp #Filter the thing?

Not sure. I think it's pretty nice. But it somehow still doesn't turn #VCV into an analog #synthesizer.

(Spending a little time relaxing and doing unimportant stuff on purpose, heading towards summer holidays…)

Still, keep in mind that VCV is free, or freemium… I bought the pro version as well as the Doepfer module. If it doesn't help me, it helps VCV to stay alive and there's much fun with it to be had still. I love the crazy sequencers, which I like to route into #WaldorfMusic synths via MIDI.

This guy's channel is a treasure trove of really useful and interesting information. Reviews, tutorials, and signposts galore for all manner of quirky, wild and interesting apps for making, synthesizing, and sequencing music on IOS.

I'm particularly enamored at the moment with TC-11, a rather remarkable multi-touch "instrument" he pointed out:

I really wish all this stuff were available on Android. I'm no fan of walled gardens, but the sad truth is that publishers don't want to invest the same way in Android apps and there's barely a market for any of this in IOS either as most of these apps haven't been updated in years.

He also co-authored a #vcvrack like modular synthesizer for IOS called Solderbox:

I still haven't figured out how to record a #vcvrack session though.

The "Record" extension hasn't worked for me yet on Windows. It just produces a series of clicks.

I need to invest more time in getting good with OBS Studio. I suspect that's a worthy investment of my time.

I know seasoned #vcvrack users will read this and think "DUH!" but I've gotta say, the enjoyment you get out of this stuff is vastly amplified when you start actually stringing sequences of modules together in interesting ways.

Like, I just added the Basti Pizza module into my library, and mixed it into a fun sequence I had going with just a VCO, delay module and a sequencer (in addition to the base level required stuff like audio mixer/out etc.)

The huge variations you can make in the sounds you creatre without changing anything are stunning, and now I understand the admonishment I've seen in many places to go slow when adding things.

REALLY explore the variations and soundscapes you can create with small numbers of modules added in.

That way later when you add you'll have a much better sense of the base you're building on.

All of this stuff is immensely fun, and I wish I had more time for it :)
