Typically, a voice AI pipeline has 3 components: Speech-to-Text, AI, and Text-to-Speech, which usually adds up to over a second of lag time. And is like a conductor leading 3 key sections: transcription, modeling, and voice generation. The neat thing about Vapi is you can plug in your preferred providers, like OpenAI, Groq, Deepgram, 11Labs, and many more. If you configure it just right, you can shave the latency down to under 700 milliseconds.
