A Simple Rural Street Photo In Landscape Format. In The Foreground Is A Rough Tarmac Road Stretching From The Left To The Right And Rising Up About One Third In The Frame. On The Far Side Of This Narrow Street Is A Single Line Painted On The Side Of The Road. On The Verge Is A Strip Of Rough Undergrowth Growing About A Metre In Height. Beyond And Again Stretching From The Left To The Right Margins Is A Decaying Wooden Barn Or Warehouse. It Has A Ground And First Floor And A Pitched Felt Roof On Top. The Front Consists Of Multiple Horizontal Wooden Planks Interrupted By A Number Of Doors And Boarded Up Windows. Written Across The Building In Large White Bold Letters, Perhaps One And A Half Metres Tall, Are The Words: 'EVERYTHING IS A STORY' ('Everything Is' - On The First Floor And 'A Story' - Underneath On The Ground Floor).
The Location: Vardø, Norway's Most Eastern Town: 31º East, Further East Than St Petersburg And Istanbul. At 70º North Its Somewhat North Of The Arctic Circle (2017).

#Vardø marked the third and last piece in my #BarentsSea #bikepacking tryptich.

The island is packed with things to see: #Norway's oldest undersea tunnel, a spectacular witchhunt memorial, a citadel that to this day occasionally fires cannon shots, the nearby #Hornøya which on top of being the geographically easternmost point of the country is also a refuge for rare bird species, the geodesic domes of the GLOBUS radar, and the #Drakkar sculpture of a wooden "Boat Dragon".

Leaving #Norway from the east en route to #Finland is one of the oddities of #geography: although one moves west, the timezone changes backwards from UTC-0200 to UTC-0300.

Surprisingly, both #Kirkenes and #Vardø are located east of the entirety of Finland and east of Saint Petersburg. Which makes the name "Norway" a bit of an understatement as on top of being "the way to the north" it should also be considered "the way to the east".

village enneigé au bord de la mer avec des maisons colorées en rouge, jaune, bleu, vert.... dans la lumière du couchant sous un ciel bien couvert. Le clocher de l'église, vu de profil, n'est qu'un rectangle (de face, c'est un triangle très pointu vers le ciel).
