In Norse mythology, the greatest ship was Skíðblaðnir. It was owned by the god Freyr, and could carry all of the gods and their retinue over sea, land, and air, faster than any other ship. Skíðblaðnir could also be folded up, and put in Freyr's pocket when not needed.

The Prose Edda says that the greatest physician and healer of the Norse gods is the goddess Eir (whose name means "protection" or "mercy"). She is apparently a good friend of Frigg, queen of the gods. Other sources describe Eir instead as either a valkyrie or a human.

Though Loki was the cleverest Norse god, he often didn't think of the consequences of his actions. As a prank, Loki cut Sif's hair (Thor's wife) as she slept without realizing that Thor would instantly suspect him. Thor throttled Loki until he agreed to make amends.

After Loki murdered the Norse god Baldur, the other gods imprisoned Loki. In order to create restraints to hold the shapeshifter, Odin turned Loki's son Narfi into a huge wolf, who tore apart Nari (one of Loki's other sons). Then Odin bound Loki with Nari's entrails.

Though Thor is the greatest warrior of the Norse gods, he is not a god of war but instead one of agriculture. This is demonstrated when Thor encounters a disguised Odin who denigrates Thor for being lord of farmers and serfs while Odin is lord of kings and warriors.

In Norse myths, the god Odin often visits the wise goddess Sága in her hall, where she brews mead that they joyfully share in golden cups. Some scholars think that Sága is a distinct goddess of brewing and prophecy while others think that she is actually Odin's wife Frigg.

In Norse mythology, the Aesir gods usually travel between Asgard and Earth via Bifröst, the Rainbow Bridge. However, Thor is so heavy that he would shatter a rainbow if he walked on it, so he has to take the long way around and ford a mighty river.

Though modern culture often depicts the Norse goddess Freyja as simply the goddess of love, a Nordic Venus, she was also a goddess of war and witchcraft. Norse witches wore catskin gloves in her honor, and Odin was said to have learned much of his magic from Freyja.

Frey was one of the three most important Norse gods (along with Odin and Thor). He was a god of fertility, prosperity, and peace, who helped crops grow and both humans and animals give birth. Frey also ruled the light elves (though he wasn't an elf himself).

When the Norse god Thor needs food, he can kill, butcher, and eat his two magic goats. Then, if Thor collects all their bones and skin, and waves his hammer over them, the goats are resurrected. However, any of the goats' bones that were broken remain broken.

In Danish folklore, the great explorer Thorkil desires to meet one of the Norse gods, and eventually discovers "Utgartha-Loki" (a hideous giant) chained in a cave. As the Aesir gods imprisoned Loki underground, some scholars think this story's author confused Loki with Utgard-Loki.
