After the Absent Museum in #Wiels, and 16th #CuencaBiennale (#Ecuador), the collective work of #UniversalEmbassy - a platform for and by undocumented people based in the former embassy of #Somalia in #Brussels between 2000-2005, is once again being showed, this time at the heart of the 60th #VeniceBiennale, where the #Disobedience archive (a militant video archive) is being cleverly deployed at the Arsenale. Don't miss the video by #HitoSteyerl, who visited us in 2001 and produced this work appropriately titled : Universal Embassy. #MohamedBenzaouia, one of the spokespersons at the time, has aged like the rest of us, but his analysis of #FortressEurope has remained unchanged to this day. His words back then were alerting. With the militarisation of #border surveillance, the situation has worsened beyond imagination.

Tomorrow 08.07 I organise a walk in the #Wiels #swamp in Brussels, starting at 14:00

With the help of imperfect technological tools, we briefly push the limits of our senses. During a playful walk, we explore the inaudible in the water and air around the marsh. Not only will we look for how we can hear 'them', the animal/plant/other realms, but we will also try to discover what 'they' might hear and how they sometimes awkwardly get their names. Come prick up your ears and dive with us into a parallel world under, in and above the swamp.

L’attention au « vivant » a récemment été la cible d’un procès en dépolitisation intenté par une partie du mouvement anticapitaliste. En partant de l'histoire du Marais Wiels, un plan d'eau accidentel ayant émergé dans un quartier populaire de Bruxelles, cette enquête écologique montre qu’il est possible de mettre au jour des stratégies anticapitalistes multi-espèces.
