Have a rainbow 🌈. Unsurprisingly, they are fairly common here in the southwest of Ireland where the weather changes more frequently than the number of digits on one hand.

ACHTUNG bei plötzlich aufkommendem Seenebel und auflaufender Flut ist dieser WANDERWEG LEBENSGEFÄHRICH!!

Auf diesem Wanderweg befindet ihr Euch zwischen anbrandenden Meer und den Dünen, die mehrere Hundert Meter entfernt sind und NICHT betreten werden dürfen (Vogelschutzgebiet, Naturschutz) Erkundigt Euch bevor ihr loslauft wo die Sandbank liegt und behaltet das Windrad beim Nationalpark Haus Wittbülten im Blick. Bei hohen Wasserständen kann es vorkommen, das der Wanderweg zur Ostspitze der Insel abgeschnitten ist! Auch wenn es so aussieht als ob man nach Wangerooge laufen könnte ES GEHT NICHT wegen der Fahrrinne (für die Schiffe) dazwischen.

Containerschiff mit dem hellblauen Rumpf der Maersk Linie am Horizont. Der Horizont ist ein wenig diesig doch der Himmel ist blau. Auch scheint ein Flecken aus Sonnenlicht auf dem Schiff zu schimmern. Die Nordsee ist tiefblau und Wellen rollen Richtung Küste. Im Vordergrund die rote Mütze einer Wanderin mit langen Haaren im Weltnaturerbe Wattenmeer. Der Wanderweg verläuft am Spülsaum der Insel Spiekeroog zur Ostspitze Richtung Insel Wangerooge.

Wind treibt Sand über die Sandbank und dichte graublaue Wolken über den Himmel. Sonne durchbricht links die Wolkendecke und erhellt einen Rest Meerwasser - das die Ebbe zurückgelassen hat. Am Horizont ist ein Streifen der sich zurückgezogen Nordsee zu erahnen.

Zwischen Foto 1/2 und 2/2 liegt fast ein Jahrzehnt. In dieser Zeit hat sich die Leegde verändert.
Auf 1/2 schauen wir Richtung Osten, Richtung Leuchtturm Wangerooge. Hier nun wenden wir uns nach links. Richtung Norden. Am Horizont ist in ca. 900 Meter Entfernung ein kleiner dunkler Streifen Nordsee zu erkennen. Ein Pfad führt zwischen überspülten Weg und rot blühenden Queller entlang.
Die Weißdünen am Horizont liegen in der Sonne. Dort hinten ist der Himmel teilweise blau. Hier wo wir stehen und unsere Wanderung beginnen, ist der Himmel ehr dicht mit Wolken verhangen.

ACHTUNG: der Weg ist NICHT immer trockenen Fußes begehbar !!

A few buildings are just visible. Low cloud is being highlighted by the sunbeams, as well as the soft random fall of rain. It's very beautiful.

Between the Palms and the Plane

Ironically, this was taken on the nicest day of a recent holiday in Fuerteventura. A cold wind from the north blew across the island for the previous week, keeping temperatures down and contributing to a couple of rain showers. The island benefited from it with wild flowers and grass growing on the hills and fields where moisture was trapped.

Castillo Caleta de Fuste lies in the approach to the airport, so it’s not unusual to hear the roar of a jet engine overhead multiple times a day.

In the background is the prominent CHINA SHOP, selling the usual assortment of trinkets, souvenirs, bags and all sorts of other goods. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind having a single shop in Cork that carried the variety of goods they had.

This was a few minutes before I got the photo of the two lovely ladies I shared a few days ago.

Cap Cloud

Moist air forced to climb the windward slopes has condensed into a dome in the cooler air.

The pinnacles are embedded in it, almost clasping the cloud with a gentle touch.

This beautiful and ethereal formation evolved on a drizzly day in early October.

Misty Morning

Late September, and a beautiful but overcast morning in the far north-west of Iceland.

After breakfast and before we began our day of touring, we paused to admire the scarves of cloud draped around the impressive surrounding mountains. Some hilltops were barely visible but the outlines were still there.

Heading towards Siglufjörður for our hotel that night, we paused at a parking spot to admire the late light and the northern sea.

The mountains on the opposite side of the fjord looked lovely in the warm sunset, contours exaggerated, and the small houses on the promontory were picked out by the orange sunlight.

It was a day of rainbows; fleeting heavy showers and then bright sun. The air was moist with the promise of more rain.

Creeping up the steep scree slopes, nascent cloud was forming a cap.

Morning Light
