So I am thinking on how to present my sites some and I can't really get past the idea of having a background that sort of looks like the textured outsides of the older computers like a TRS-80, Apple IIe, or the beige towers I grew up looking at.

A theme for my free writing page keeps wanting to have a background of dark reddish brown leather.

... I remember when we did all of that for our web pages as just people having fun. Not being professional, but being fun.

Am I just getting old?

Figured out the email management software. Got the embedded form and workflow set up on the website for the Newsletter. Subscription email works - three free practices to get folks started.

That was the last step on my website building to-do list! I think I am ready to launch!

While I built my first site in Dreamweaver years ago, I've since then basically been building sites in WordPress. While I'm used to it, I'm seeing some good reasons to consider other ways to build sites.

While I know a lot of people in the Fediverse want to absolutely cut off Meta and never speak of it again, I still have my account there and the pages I tried to create.

So I am working on trying to rebuild and populate the as I rebuild the actual websites they are supposed to be part of.

It just makes a bit of sense to me, but I am welcome to any polite disagreement on this one.

I'm feeling like it would be cool to make a website that can act as a bit of a portfolio and host my printable zines and maybe some tutorials.

I'm thinking I might start with Neocities, but if I stick with this idea I'm interested in learning how to self host and if anyone wants to share resources on how to do that for beginners I would love to hear about that!

I tend to use #DDev for #Drupal projects locally, but I keep running into some issues when looking for a good way to deploy and keep everything synced between dev and live.

Still real disappointed that I can't seem to get #ActivityPub working with #Drupal. So far I have never received any contact related to helping figure out what I might have done wrong.

I could use some advice from anyone who has used or can help me troubleshoot the #ActivityPub module in #Drupal. I just can't get the thing to work. I ever redid the system to try and ensure I got proper permissions on the keys.

Any thoughts folks?

Hmmmm.

Checked for log permissions on the #Drupal build. Got an error for ActivityPub logs indicating:

Error creating the signature: Unable to read key

Which tells me the #ActivityPub module isn't seeing the key in the private file folder. So it might be a permissions issue.

So, I setup Fanbards.net to start off with a #Varbase install. Varbase is a distribution of #Drupal that has aof of things I like in it. I am hoping it works well for what is essentially a fan produced Magazine.
